I stared down into the casket, dropping the dark red colored rose I'd brought for Taylor into it. I wore an emotionless expression as Evan told me how well I was handling everything. Telling me everything was going to be okay. I shivered at the feeling of his hands on me.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at Taylor all dressed up in there. How did this happen? How did we mess up this bad? I almost wanted to pinch myself to wake up from this nightmare. I hated this. I hated everything about this. I hated myself for letting all this happen before my eyes, and for not staying with Taylor after everything with Kaitlyn. I hated Kaitlyn for going into the basement. I hated Ben for being the first. I hated-
"Hey," Evan whispered in my ear. "Meet me in the men's room."
And I especially hated Evan for being so damn calm this whole time! I sighed deeply, nodding and walking off hand in hand with him, supposing it was easier to just go with him than meet him later. When we arrived in the bathroom, there were one or two people, but as they shuffled out Evan locked the door.
"I'm not.." I began.
"I did it."
"What?!" I exclaimed, not understanding what he meant nor caring at this point.
"The murders. I did them," He had this creepy smile on his face that I'd never seen before. He had to be joking, right? Not a funny one, but he has to. "Look," he put an arm around me. I didn't try to get away. I observed as he pulled out a small gun, a pistol. The look on my face must've been a mix of shock and absolute terror.
"I have to go," I whimpered, looking towards the door.
"No!" Evan cried, grabbing my hand again. "Please, please don't go."
I let tears escape my eyes as I looked at him. "Why would you..." I collapsed onto my knees, opting to just stay there instead of trying to make my body listen. Evan got down on my level.
"I did it for us," He held my hands in his tightly.
"For us? For us?! Evan, you lunatic!" I screamed, prying my hands from his. "How on Earth could this possibly benefit us?"
"I thought... I thought.."
"What? What did you think?"
"I thought you were going to get close with them again and..." His voice trailed off.
I scoffed, "You are crazy," I shook my head, getting up and placing my hand on the doorknob.
Evan held his gun up towards me. "Don't leave," His grip was shaky and he'd probably miss if he even tried to shoot me, but something about him made me turn around.
"Do you really think I'm going to stay?" I slid down the door, sitting on the floor with my legs tucked behind my arms. "You killed my friends. You killed my entire childhood. You took it all away."
"Stop!" A cry that tore from his throat cut into my heart. He slammed his eyes shut, covering his ears with his hands. "Stop it!"
"You did this to yourself," I shook my head. "You don't deserve to be loved. You never did. How could you do this?"
"Shut up!" He yelled, eyes opening as he aimed the gun at me yet again. We were sitting across the room from each other as if this were a casual conversation. "I need you," He whispered, almost inaudibly. "You can't leave.. You just can't."
"Your gun is the only thing keeping me from walking out the door right now," I said bluntly.
"We could be happy," He mumbled.
"Oh, really?" I rolled my eyes. "How."
"I could.." He stood up, dusting himself off only to plop down right in front of me. "I could shoot us both.. We could be together."
"You're insane."
"No-no we could-"
"No!" I shouted. "Evan, you killed my best friends. I'm not forming a suicide pact with you!"
He held the gun up at me again, "The thing is," He chuckled quietly, "you don't have a choice."
I watched in horror as he looked at me with an expression that I could only describe as being filled with complete and total darkness. "We're gonna be together, Luke," He whispered.
"No..." I felt chills travel down my spine as I began to completely sob. "Evan, no, please."
Evan stood up, aiming his gun at me dead on. "I'll see you soon, darling."
Bang, bang.
