After the arrival of the romanians, all gathered outside to make kind of a demonstration of their powers. I approached one of the shelves in Carlisle's office and picked up a book on quantum physics.

"Time is a physical magnitude with which we measure the duration or separation of events. Time allows events to be arranged in sequences, establishing a past, future and present." I read out loud turning in the direction of Carlisle. ""How much truth do you think there is in this book, my friend?"

"I don't know. I bought it a while ago in an attempt of understanding time, but I believe that no one is capable of understanding time more than you."

I smiled and put the book back on the shelf. I approached the window and watched everyone.

"You should show them your power, they'll be relieved to know that you can stop something from happening" Carlisle stood next to me. "Please, Valley."

"Just because I can avoid it doesn't mean I'm going to do it, Carlisle. You can't avoid your destiny forever, whatever needs to happen, will happen, that's all"

Carlisle looked at me in complete silence as I tried to ignore him. I sighed and ran outside. Everyone looked at me in surprise.

"Carlisle has asked me to show you my gift. I don't know why, I'm not going to use it even if it's necessary.

I snapped my fingers and everything stopped at once. I smiled, the last time I used my gift was to run away from the Volturi and it had been too long ago. Everything seemed frozen, but there was no ice coming out of the place. I approached Edward, placed one of my arms around his chest and the other around his neck, as if I was really going to hurt him. I snapped my fingers again and they all blinked for a couple of seconds until they realized I had a chance to kill Edward and they couldn't help it.

"I'm sure the power you have in mind is not mine" I whispered in his ear. I separated from him and went back to my place in front of them. "Let me guess what goes through your mind right now. Teleportation? Why wouldn't I use that power in a battle? I'm sure you're wondering that.

Everyone looked at me in surprise. I wasn't 964 years old because I was a good person or because I wasn't impulsive or rebellious. I had them for my gift. Because I don't use my gift to avoid others' destiny, but I do use my gift to avoid mine. Selfish, but human. And to me, anything that made me a little more human was completely welcome.

"Valley's gift is time."

Carlisle left the house looking at Edward. Everyone seemed surprised and confused.

"Valley controls time. She can stop it, delay it, and even advance it. It's like time travel but at the same time, it's not."

I smiled and climbed a tree quickly. It was about dusk and I was anxious to see it happen.
