Chapter 6

I followed him to a white Mercedes.

He opened the door for me and we sat in silence for awhile.

" I've missed you." He finally said.

"I missed you too. But you left me. I thought you were dead. I cried every night for a year after the hospital. You can't expect me to just be oh hey Eric nice to see you." I said. Tears came down my face.

"I'm sorry let me explain please." He said.

"Fine you have 5 minutes."

****Flash back****

Eric's POV

I woke up handcuffed to a car door. I couldn't see who was driving but I heard a baby crying.

"Sara?" I said. I could barely talk.

"No Sara is somewhere else." A voice said. I couldn't tell who it was.

"Shhhhh shhhhhh hush little baby don't you cry mommas gunna sing you a lullaby. Hmmm hmmm hmm hmm hmm hmmm." A woman's voice said. She was cradling a small baby in a pink blanket.

The car stopped at an old cabin in the woods.

I pretended to go back asleep so I could hear what they were saying.

"Babe go put the baby to sleep. Ill take care of Eric." The man said.

I heard the car door open next to me and I was being dragged out into the grass. I snook a peak and the man was grabbing a shot gun from the side of the cabin. I knew this was my only chance. I got to my feet and ran. I ran as fast as fast as I could.

"Hey! Get back here." I heard the man say. I never got a look at his face but his voice sounded familiar.

I ran and there was a cliff. It was the only way to go. I turned around and I saw him. It was James.

"Eric there's no where to go. You can jump if you want either way your dead." James said as he walked closer to me.

The only way I might have a chance is to jump.

So I did.

*****Flash back ended*****

"And you survived?" I asked

"Yeah. Someone found me and fixed my up. I've been looking for you. Sara when I went back to town I heard our baby had died and I couldn't take it. I knew you were still in high school. I could have gone after you but I thought I had brought you too much pain. Sometimes I would sit in my car and watch you walk to school. I love you. I never stopped." Eric said.

He reached for my hand.

I pulled away.

"So James is still alive?" I questioned.

Eric's face faded into a frown.

"Yes. I've been trying to find him because our baby is still alive. It took me awhile to realize it but he took our baby. She was the baby in the car with me."

I started to cry again. My baby's alive. And I never got to see her.

"Why would the doctor lie to me?" I said. But I already knew the answer. James family was very rich. He must have payed them off.

"I'm going to go can you drive me to the hospital please. "I said.

Eric nodded. The rest of the car ride was silent.

He dropped me off at the hospital when I got inside Josh was there waiting for me.

"Where have you been are you ok?" Josh said as he hugged me.

"Yeah I'm fine I just got held up with some thing." I said.

"The doctor came out and he said. Karen is brain dead. Baby I'm so sorry." Josh said. He started to cry.

"What does that mean??" I started to cry.

"It means her body is still working just not her brain." He said.

"What. So like her body is working."

"The doctor said you can donate her organs. And you can pull the plug when you want."

"I'll never be ready and I can't deal with this."

I ran to her room. Matt was there crying next to her bedside. I joined him.

Josh came in slowly. He sat next to me and cradled me.

*****later that day*****

Josh drove me home.

"Do you want me to stay?" Josh said.

"No I'm fine thank you." I said. I walked to my dorm.

When i walked in, there was a girl siting on the couch.

"Who are you?" I asked.

" hi I'm your new roommate ....... Hannah."
