"Tristan! I'm so, sorry. I wish I had told you about Nathaniel in a better way, not like this!"
"Yeah, but you didn't!" he replied.
We had sat on a garden just beside our house door, and the night had a cool breeze for the two love birds who aren't in a situation like mine, to enjoy their night. We could hear the yelling and noises from the neighbor houses, and all that Tristan had on his face, was a total disappointed look! He gave me a chance to explain myself, but it didn't seem like it worked.
I could tell, he was trying so hard not to cry. His eyes were turning red, and the only thing he did, was responding while facing the sky, for the tears not to drop from his eyes. He sounded like not the Tristan I was used to, this one felt different. I was so ashamed of what I had done to him, though I needed to explain. And all that I hoped for was, to let him leave my house with no blames or sorrow in his heart, I wanted him to leave with a fresh heart. Though it looks like, it's going to be hard than I think.
"So, were you guys dating or something!?" he asked.
"No! We were just best friends." I replied.
"Oh!"
"But... there is something else!"
"What is it?"
"Yes, we were best friends, but after all those years together, I had a crush on him!" I had to tell him. No more secrets...
"Mm-hmm!" he acted like it was something easy to digest.
"And so, that's when you guys dated, right!?" he kept on going back to that one question.
"Tristan! No... look, I've never dated Nathaniel. That crush detail, I kept it to myself. He never knew, and it was because he had not felt the same way as I did."
"How do you know he never felt that way about you?"
"Okay fine, I don't know. But if he had felt that way, then maybe he would have told me..."
"Like how you felt that way, and you told him, huh!?" he kept on challenging my reasons.
"Tristan, please... you can't do this to me!"
"What have I done wrong? All I've been doing this entire time is trying to win your heart, trying to win you. All those days since I knew you, I knew you had a past that you were scared to tell, and you didn't want to tell about. But, I thought I could make you better again, I thought I could fix you. And at the end of the day, I come to find out that, in one way or another, you're still holding tight to your past!" he sounded like a giving up person.
"Tristan, that's not what is happening!"
"Then, tell me. What's happening!?" he yelled.
"I'm sorry, I can't yell at you." He added.
"Tristan, look since Nathaniel left town, it made me scared. I was scared to admit to someone else before I knew for sure that he was really gone!"
"And, I'm that someone else here, huh!?" it seems like I was now making it worse, not better!
"Tristan!"
"Listen, Kayla... I need you to tell me something with honesty..."
"Okay."
"Have you ever felt anything for me!? Like, felt something sparkling inside you when you're with me!"
"Tristan..."
"Yeah, right!" he stood and he wanted to leave.
"Tristan, please!" I stood on my feet too and tried to stop him.
