Logan sits at the table across from Roman. The two carry in about a conversation Romans lessons after all he is still amateur at his job. "How about instead of giving them an essay you give a two weeks to read a book on something art related-". "And have them write an essay?" Logan tilts his head downwards. "No. I was going to suggest you give them a test, over the subject and then actually start doing more of the teaching part of being a teacher." Roman's eyebrows raise at his friends sassy remark.
"Maybe I will." Roman retorts. Logan deadpans. You have me choice it's literally in your job description. If you're a swimmer you swim, if you're a cook you cook, and if you're a teacher..." Logan points at Roman. "If you're a teacher you teach." Roman begrudgingly whispers. "Exactly. It is simply protocol Roman, I can comprehend that you need time to adjust to your students and the different routines but it is no excuse to not execute your job!"
Romans surprised by his friends sudden out burst looks at Logan eyes slightly widened. When Logan notices the elders eyes on him he simply clears his throat while adjusting his neck tie. "As I was saying, you have to teach them, and if you don't then they'll replace you." Logan finishes a sorrowfully look in his eyes. "Oh."
The two sit in silence for a while as Roman writes out a few plans. A ping interrupts the tense atmosphere. Logan took his phone it silencing it. "Who was that?" Roman asked surprised that his friend has other friends. "Well don't say it like you're surprised." Logan complained, Roman looked to his left his lips like a ducks. "Oh my gosh you're ridiculous, Logan sighed. I have other friends!" Roman looked at him with duck lips and cryptic eyes. He mumbled a quick. "You sure about that."
Logan crossed his arms on the table in front of him leaning forward a hard stare in his eyes. Roman froze for a second thinking of the darkly dressed younger he saw on his first day. He quickly snapped out of it, returning to his original objective. With only a few more pages left to grade he sets to work in hopes of finishing. Alas he was let down by the extensive writing of many of his students. "He looks at the words that become a jumbled mess his eyes strain to read anymore.
Roman throws his head up vigorously rubbing his eyes. "Maybe we should continue this another time." Logan suggests seeing the state of his friend. A sigh sets his tone. "Yes that would be more than needed." Logan squints his eyes as if looking for something. "You didn't even, never mind." Roman looks all him while gathering his stuff. "I didn't what!" His voice defensive.
"You, you didn't even read that much!" Logan exclaimed. "Well I'm sorry mr. I can read the entire Harry Potter series in one day but my apathy is at its wits end and if I read one more redundant sentence I will lose it. I just can't deal with reading another redundant sentence!"
"That was a redundant sentence!" Logan scolds. "You're a redundant sentence!" Roman spits. "That doesn't even make sense!" Logan yells throwing his arms forwards. "You don't make sense!" "Shh!" Both men are quiet, eyes wide and heads towards the librarian desk. "Let's just leave." Logan whispers pinching his rubella. Roman nods in agreement.
The duo walk out the library side by side a calm air around them. "So What was that text message about?" Roman asks curious. "It was just an acquaintance." Logan throws the word out their hoping to drop suspicion the thought of admitting to feeling a romantic emotion towards someone else; and another boy at that.
"Oh." Roman didn't believe him but dropped the conversation. They walk until they eventually reach the classes. Logan follows behind Roman and watches as he unlocks his class door. They sit by each other silently working on the new lesson plan. Roman looks up at Logan biting his lip before talking. "Listen Lo, I'm." He doesn't finish his sentence. "You don't have to apologize I understand." They look at each other and nod. Small smiles engraved in their faces.
I don't know if this is what they call 'filler' chapters or not but I hope you enjoyed the chapter it is small but I'm happy with it.💜💜
