"Honey, what's wrong?"

Gaster looked up briefly from his paper but continued to grind his teeth.

"These equations are nonsensical! I can't determine anything from them," He eventually grumbled as (Y/N) sat in the armchair beside him. He was surrounded by books and stacks of various sizes of paper, completely taking up a corner of the lounge.

Usually he didn't like bringing his work into their home. But since his own laboratory had no space left for his recent core development equations, he had temporarily shifted some relevant information and blueprints into the living room. It was definitely not ideal. Sans and Papyrus had already been told off twice for being too loud, or knocking stacks over. But while Gaster was in the final stages of completing the core, it would have to do.

"I know you'll figure it out, but maybe if you come back to it tomorrow after a bit of thinking it'll make more sense." (Y/N) grabbed his hand that was resting on the armrest and rubbed it soothingly. She then stood up and headed into the kitchen, carefully navigating the temporary pillars of books and paper.

Sighing, Gaster ignored her advice and just stared at the paper more intensely. King Asgore did especially request the core be completed as soon as possible, as it would pull the strain off of their glowshard miners.

"Hey kids, do you want to help mummy cook dinner?" He heard from the other room, followed by the patter of little feet.

"YESH! PAP WANT COOK!"

"Okay."

The sound of pots and pans clanging together suddenly erupted from the kitchen, along with other unidentifiable noises.

Gaster really tried to focus, and tried to block out the peals of laughter and the good smells, tried to stare at the equations until they made sense. But even after half an hour passed, he found himself only listening to the quiet chatter coming from the kitchen.

He threw his hands up into the air and walked into the kitchen. Papyrus was standing on a stool stirring the spaghetti, and Sans and (Y/N) were cutting herbs. (Y/N) looked very motherly, hair in a messy (ponytail/bun) and an apron tied around her. Gaster felt his soul swell up in his ribcage with love and pride at his beautiful family.

"DADDY!" Papyrus leapt off the stool. Luckily Gaster's reflexes were sharp enough to catch him, and Sans turned around and ran over to his father. When (Y/N) finally turned around, she saw a very happy Gaster with Sans hugging his leg and Papyrus nuzzled against his turtleneck. "WE MAKE DINNER WITH MUMMY!"

"How kind of you two. It smells wonderful," Gaster grinned, the stress of his core work seeping away.

"Kids, let go of your father before the pasta burns," (Y/N) laughed after a couple of seconds, eyes flicking to the pot of the stove. Papyrus was placed back on the stool and Sans walked into the doorway beside Gaster.

"And how is my beautiful bride doing?" He hugged (Y/N)'s waist and nuzzled his head into the crook of her neck.

"Better now." She turned around and gave him a kiss before resting her forehead against his. They stared into each other's eyes, both cheeks faintly tainted pink and purple.

"You truly are wonderful, my dear," Gaster sighed, kissing her nose.

"EWWW," Papyrus whined from the other side of the kitchen and Sans cringed, looking away. (Y/N) and Gaster laughed heartily at their children's reactions.

"Come on now, let's have dinner before you two get any more grossed out by your embarrassing parents." (Y/N) giggled and the boys took a seat at the table.
