I also got the idea for the van (pictured above) from omoulo (tumblr) and the nickname I found from fallling-skys (also tumblr) and thought it was really cute and suited Ace.

When the Gorillaz invited Ace as a stand-in for Murdoc, he couldn't say no. So, he went to live in the band house and left their shared home van in (Y/N)'s full care until whenever Murdoc was released from prison.

They had planned that once Ace got enough money from the music biz, they'd buy a house together. That was the plan anyway and (Y/N) had picked up a part-time job to help even though Ace was obviously earning significantly more. Initially he was apprehensive about giving her the keys, but not because he didn't trust (Y/N). Ace was afraid she wouldn't be safe on her own in the van since she was a lady and there were a few "sketchy fellas about".

He said he'd visit when he could, which he did, but even then that wasn't as often as either of them would have liked. However, this meant that whenever they did see each other the made the most of it.

(Y/N) was making a small dinner of boiled frozen vegetables and packet macaroni cheese when there was a knock at the door.

She wasn't aware that someone was coming over, but recognised the distinct knock instantly.

"Come in!" She didn't bother to turn around when she heard the door open and continued to stir the pasta.

"Hey Toots," Ace's arms wrapped around her shoulders and he rested his chin upon her head, letting out a heavy sigh. "I missed ya. You have no idea the day I've had,"

"I missed you too, do you want me to serve you a plate while you talk about it?" She began to pull two plates from under the bench.

"No, I'm good. Just ate, but thanks." Ace then walked over to the double bed at the front of the van (made by both of the driver and passenger seats folding down, with bedding and a thin foam mattress on top) and flopped onto it. He seemed exhausted to say the least.

"It started with our manager coming at 5 freakin' am to talk 'bout our next gig, and we were out last night until late so we're all half asleep. Then the coffee lady trips 'n' spills hot coffee all over my new shirt, and-" He rambled on, getting animated with his hands as he told his stories. Despite the mood behind the rambling, (Y/N) loved hearing his stories. She loved how passionate he got about his storytelling, and the way his hands would move in emphasis.

"-So I'm really just glad to have some time away from all that and be here with ya." He finished, puffing out his cheeks.

"That sounds rough. I'm glad to be here with you too." (Y/N) spoke, scraping some food onto her plate. When she turned around to look at Ace, she noticed that his glasses were discarded and his shirt was partially unbuttoned with a large coffee stain on it.

"C'mere," He said fondly, patting the space in front of him. She obliged, curling her legs up and leaning back into his chest. The plate of food sat awkwardly in her hands, but she was careful to not drop any food onto Ace or the upholstery. Ace hugged her like a teddy bear and nuzzled into her hair.

After a while of silent cuddling, Ace kissed her cheek and spoke quietly:

"Thanks for listening, you have no idea how much I missed ya Toots."

She hummed, mumbling; "I missed you too Ace,"
