He was finally able to stop. He didn't know how or why. But he was finally able to move his head away from Dominic. He laid down on his side in severe pain. There were horrible tears on his knees from being on concrete for hours. For Days. For Weeks? No. Not for weeks. Maybe for weeks?
He started to weep. Blood from his growing gut moved out of his eyes. He tried catching his breath but it was of little use. For the first time in his life, Luke was ashamed of himself.
How long did he lay there, lost in his own little despair before Dominic began to come around?
"Lu-luke? Luke? Luke is that you? Is that you?"
Luke shouted in pain as he rose to his feet, stumbling around.
"Dominic, Dominic are you yourself?"
"I think so. What- where are we?
"I don't know. And I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry."
"For- THERE'S AN IV IN MY ARM!"
"I know darling."
"Is this part of the initiation?" Dominic's voice squeaked.
"No darling. You were kidnapped and then I was kidnapped and I've been sucking you dry for I don't know how long and that's how they were keeping you alive."
"They?"
"Yes. They. Demons. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't want anything to do with me after this."
"It's not your fault though. Can you- can you get the IV out of my arm?"
"I'm too dirty. I don't think I should."
"You can heal me though."
"I don't know if I can darling. All I've had is your blood-" Luke said, ashamed of himself and looking away, blushing.
"We're both naked."
"Yes. Yes darling we are."
"Did they- do anything?"
Luke shook his head as he looked away. "I wish I could say."
Dominic took a long, deep breath. "Oh-kay. Well. We should- leave while we can."
"To where?"
"Anywhere but here."
"I don't know if there is anywhere else to go." Luke said, the thought settling on the air and landing like a lead balloon. He couldn't look at Dominic, didn't want to go near to him. Luke's body was telling him how wrong everything was. How raw it was. How much of his connection between himself and his world had been cut by the work of the Lucifers. And then-
Howl! Howl! Howl!
A course of were voices. The sound of walls being knocked down. Cell doors being opened.
A pirate wolf appeared.
"He's over here matey!"
Luke took one look at Derek in pirate dress and fainted.
When he woke up, he found himself on a couch with an IV hooked in his arm now. He could feel his temperature coming down, almost too cold from the suffocating heat of the stables. He sat up and then growled at the IV in his arm.
"Don't rip that out. I don't want to have to reinsert it." Said a man wearing gold booty shorts and a lab coat. "How are you feeling?"
"Dominic- Derek-"
"One's out in the living room and the other is- resting. A human mortal? I would think better of you vampire."
"He's my- he was going to be one of my proteges-"
"Ah. Your vitals are quite erratic. The spell may take some time to dissipate."
"Thank you- Dr-"
"Feel Good. Thor Feel Good is my stage name."
"Where am I?"
"My home. Turns out being a hustler pays the bills better than being a supernatural doctor."
Derek did his best not to rush in. He whined at the doorway, practically on his heels.
"Come here, pup-"
He flung himself forward. He curled up to the edge of the couch, sitting there and cuddled hard against Luke's free arm. Luke could feel his wild, wet curls against his naked chest.
"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry-" Derek said over and over again.
"Pup- Derek- Derek- it's okay. It's okay. I don't know what happened but it's okay."
"I ruined everything. It was all my fault."
"Nonsense, darling."
"I can't see you again. Tommy is transferring me to a new pack. I'm moving to Vancouver."
The announcement dropped like a lead balloon.
"Oh. Well, Vancouver is nice though." Luke's mouth felt dry. He felt very weary. It didn't hurt to use his free hand to pat the top of Luke's head. "You'll like Vancouver. Especially in fall and winter. Lots of running around to do."
"But you won't be there."
"No, love. I won't. But perhaps that's for the best."
Derek looked up at Luke with tear stained eyes. "You don't love me?"
"I love you enough to let you go." He couldn't give Derek any sort of smile, just a weak flash of it. "You must be brave, pup. There's plenty of good men of your own kind to love who won't send you into danger or make your leader mad at you. You must- think of all the adventures. Think of all the things you can write to me that you do. It will be difficult but I am not so special. There are many men in this world and you will find yours."
"Luke-"
"No-" Luke whispered, shaking his head. "No."
He was sure he would be punished later by his coven. At least censured. But for now this was enough pain to live through. Yes. Quite enough.
