The past two months Thomas had been living in utter fear and terror of Pedro and his people's violent threat. He knew that Pedro was planning to stop them, but it was just a plan, not a certainty.
Every day was like a year for Thomas. Every hour, minute, second was valuable, he found himself doing strange deeds that he might not have done if say...he wasn't distruped by an alien such as Pedro. For example, everyday Thomas would phone his mum, an activity which he could never really find time for normally. Or he would smile politley at his boss who secretly he hated, you catch the drift.
Pedro, on the other hand, didn't seem very shaken. He had known about Thomas' imminent death the entire time, and while he did care rather a lot, he had made his peace with it. Or at least, he had stopped himself from worrying about it in his day to day life. A voluntary mental block, so he could just smile at his romantic partner (a term he had not stopped using and, no, he hadn't stopped calling Thomas a hottie either) and try to figure out what a Nintendo DS was for without a care in the world.
"Hi," Thomas said as he stomped down the stairs.
"Hey, man! Hey, listen, I'm a little confused here...what's a nintendog?" Pedro asked, giggling at his little handheld console as he paced the length of the living room.
"Oh, it's a dog which you can take care of on your Nintendo!" Thomas chuckled.
Pedro laughed too, even though he didn't really understand. "Cool, hottie. So, how are you this morning?"
"Fine, thanks!" Thomas said, giving Pedro a small smile. "What do you fancy for breakfast?"
"You."
Thomas looked blankly up at Pedro. "No. Seriously, to eat preferably?"
"Mh...got any animal crackers?" Pedro asked, looking over brightly.
"Yeah, what kind?" came the reply.
"Any'll do, babe."
Thomas gave Pedro a dirty look as he chucked a small blue packet of animal crackers in his general direction.
Pedro caught them with one hand and started chewing at the packet. "Thanks. Right, I kind of wanted to talk to you about something..."
"Right, okay," Thomas replied, rushing over towards the sofa and sitting down. Pedro sat beside him.
"All right, hottie, now, I don't want to upset you, but...you realise it's been...two months since we had our little chat about...stuff...?"
"I KNOW!" Thomas interrupted rudely, "Cut to the chase."
"Well...thing is, that means the...erm, thing...could happen any day now...and, erm, just...be prepared, yeah, darling?" Pedro might have been good at the whole comfort thing, but this was Thomas he was talking to.
Tomas threw the towel which was wrapped around his neck on to the floor and started to cry quietly.
Pedro's face fell. Not the anticipated reaction. "Hey...hey, it's okay...are you...Thomas, don't cry, that's an order."
"Order. Pfft," Thomas shrieked in emotional agony.
"Yes, order! Stop crying now. You will obey."
"Me obey, my ass," Thomas cried.
"Stop...just STOP, FOR GOD'S SAKE!"
"Why should I?" Thomas wailed
Pedro shoved his face into his hands. "Because it's breaking my heart, you stupid ape!"
Thomas looked up at Pedro and saw the sad expression. "Ped. You okay?"
