She woke with a brilliant smile etched on her face. The air was cooler than before, and the sun was shining brightly. She felt light breeze entering her room, through the opened French doors. She strectched and yawned and got up from bed, and headed towards the balcony. Everything seem miraculous, like she's seeing it for the first time.
A flock of birds flew over the sky and she narrowed her eyes to see them fly across the sun.
She was happy.
While looking over the backyard, she saw her father reading newspaper, and suddenly she wanted to see him. She tied her hair in a bun, and left the room.
Seeing her approaching, her father felt a pleasant surprise. It's been so long, since he had ever seen her this radiating.
She greeted him joyfully, and they talked for a while, until her mother joined them outside. Soon her siblings came rushing, ofcourse another argument! While both parents sorted their children's issues, she excused herself and went to her room.
It was a Sunday morning.
She took a bath and was combing her hair, sitting before a mirror, humming a rhythm. He was there last night, and unlike previous encouters it was not scary. He saved her. But who was he? There remained a question to his very existence.
A profound fear took place in her heart.
But he never harmed her. It was her reaction to his presence not his doing, it was always herself. The night flashed before her eyes, agonizing screams, bloody mirror, and a soft voice calming her. And the moment shifted, a distant gaze always upon her, while no one's looking... snow flakes falling and strong breeze, someone calling her from behind, but the street's empty... a shudder chilled her down to her bones, of someone's intense stare..
"No!!, .. not again", she whispered.
Suddenly she saw her life unfolding before her eyes. All the events she neglected were always connected to him. He's been with her all along. And he had wanted her to notice him. And he can not be touched, nor be seen, because he's only perceptible.
