"I have a major problem with this!" Lyria snapped. Nehemia rolled her eyes.
"It'll be fine. If mom can do it, we can."
Lyria's eyes flashed murderously. "But mom has almost died messing around with wyrdmarks. Remember?"
"Those were completely different circumstances." Nehemia retorted.
Nehemia tapped the cover of The Walking Dead.
"Besides, if she didn't want us using it, she shouldn't have left it on the side table in the library."
Lyria paused for a few moments. "Fine. But if we get in trouble, you dragged me into this against my will!" Lyria said furiously.
"Fine. Coward." Nehemia said with a cruel smile.
Lyria groaned.
"Every gods damned time. You call me a coward and I go along with whatever horse shit you're planning." She mumbled.
"Let's do this." Nehemia said, taking a deep breath.
A few minutes later, wyrdmarks lay on the floor.
"Last one," Nehemia said slowly, almost to herself.
"Woah," Lyria said in awe.
"Aelin, I've told you before, let me enjoy my damned afterlife! Wait, why are there two of you?" A golden haired fae male stood before the twins.
"Um . . ." Nehemia trailed off.
"I was pretty sure the two of us have different colored hair but ok then." Lyria replied.
"Sorry, everything is black and white. Downside of being dead. Who are you? You shouldn't have summoned me."
"You weren't who we wanted to summon." Lyria stated.
"We wanted to summon our dad, he died about 17 years ago I think." Nehemia finished.
The male sighed.
"You're Aelin Galathynius's daughters, correct?"
The girls nodded.
"You're father is not dead. Dark forces are at work. They are focusing in on the signal of the wyrdmarks. They are coming. I have little time left. You two are destined to save the world or . . ."
The male's image flickered than dissolved. Lyria quickly smudged the wyrdmarks.
"We need water to clean them up." Nehemia murmured. Lyria nodded and walked away.
"What do you think he meant when he said . . ." Nehemia trailed off when Lyria returned with cleaning supplies.
"The entire message?" Lyria finished for her. Nehemia nodded. "Well, if he wasn't lying, our father isn't dead. But what 'dark forces' could there possibly be? Mom solved the valg problem when she was in her early twenties. What else could there be?"
Lyria bent down on her knees and took a wet cloth from the bucket of water she brought back.
"After dinner we'll go look through the library for more information on different creatures or species." Nehemia said, taking the other wet cloth and scrubbing the floor.
"What about the part about us saving the world? He never finished his sentence. It could mean anything" Lyria replied, watching the wyrdmarks slowly disappear.
"I'm not sure. We know nothing about the supposed dark forces that are coming," Nehemia paused to use a dry towel to soak up the extra water. "We have no hints whatsoever, we're just going to end up reading a bunch of books on different creatures and species until we find a bunch that sound evil."
"So, if this is true, we're pretty much dead." Lyria stated.
Nehemia nodded.
"Probably." She admitted.
"Shit." Lyria muttered. "We'd better head down for dinner. We'll go to the library afterwards, agreed?"
"Agreed."

"Mom knows something's up." Lyria breathed quietly to her sister.
"She's always like that." Nehemia said somewhat nervously.
The two girls took a left at the next hallway.
"We need to put The Walking Dead back where we found it." Lyria replied.
Nehemia nodded.
"Yes, but how?" Nehemia said.
"You mean to tell me you managed to take the book but can't put it back?" Lyria said, confused.
Nehemia shrugged sheepishly and Lyria groaned.
Nehemia walked a little faster as they came to the library doors. She pushed them open and walked over to the first shelf.
"Since the librarian can't know about what we're looking for, we're just going to have to search the shelves one by one." Nehemia said confidently.
"That might take a while." Lyria noted.
"But in the end it will be worth it." Nehemia reminded her twin.
"We don't even know if what this male said is true. We don't even know who he is!" Lyria exclaimed.
"We'll figure it out. It's better to be prepared than be caught unaware." Nehemia said decisively.
"Good point." Lyria admitted reluctantly.
"You start over there and I'll start over here. Let's meet by the main doors in an hour. Pick up any book that mentions any sort of creature that could be what we're looking for." Nehemia said.
"Alright." Lyria agreed.
