Hafsat's POV
Umma has been very excited these past week especially after I gave my consent for my marriage with sa'id. Abba had happily informed everyone and his family came for proper introduction a month ago. The wedding had been fixed when they came and it is in a week time. My family have moved to my family house in Kano for the wedding and I can say it has been a while seeing a full house. The house is so full that I can't wait for everything to be done with. Getting married has been a rollercoaster of emotions for me, one moment am happy the other am nervous and my Mom is too excited to even notice. She is extra busy from planning the wedding though her sister Aunty Hajara who is an event planner is in charge to booking traditional bath and massage for me. I can say my sisters are also the bride because the way they are all hyped about it is on a whole new level.
Meanwhile sa'id and I had a little, very little misunderstanding yesterday and it is all because of me. These whole tension is really getting to me and is clouding my sense of judgment. He was just asking after my well being and I kinda over reacted. I stood up from the prayer mat as I kept it back in place and reached out for my phone. Dialing his number I thought of what I could say to pacify him.
" Asalamualykum" I started
" Walakumusalam habibi" he replied
" How are you doing " I said testing the waters
" Great, am even at the Tailor's. I hope you are better you sounded off yesterday that why I stopped talking. Are you better now"
" Am sorry about that, I... "
" Don't worry, I get that you are tensed about the wedding which is normal. You just have to talk to someone to relieve yourself the stress and I am here so talk to me when it seems to envelope you, kinji"
" Okay, thank you alot"
" so I presume you are feeling much better now so how about we meet the interior decorator later in the day and I promise to make you feel better.
'' Toh, it is a date then, you could have just said you wanted to meet me instead of saying we are meeting the decorator"
" Your mom wouldn't let you since it is a few days to the wedding and I wanted to help relieve your anxiety so dress pretty and I will pick you up by 4pm"
" Aren't you been too sweet, have you had sugar this morning hopefully you are suffering from sugar rush "
" Hafsat don't doubt my ability to be romantic "
" Haha, me no oo. I can't that will be to my disadvantage now. So by 4pm then I have some outing with the girls before then so byeee"
" Byee then, be safe"
" I will "
Sa'id has been this way for the month even when he came up with the endearment 'habibi' I was tongue tied, unable to respond took me a few days to get used to it. But now it gets me blushing if not entirely red..
I checked the time and it was 10:00am. I quickly had my bath and went in search of salamatu and my cousin fadila. Today was the final fitting for my dresses and we had a meeting with the caterers.
" Alhamdudillah " I silently whispered as I wrapped my hijab.
