Casualty One Shot

You loved your girlfriend, Tamzin, with all of your heart and the only thing that you would have changed was getting her to not work such long hours. She was a paramedic and loved her job but sometimes she would have to work over her normal hours, and it meant it was hard to know when she would actually be home. As normal Tamzin was home over an hour after she should have been but this time, she had a bruise on her face and a few stitches across her cheek.

She assured you that she was okay, but you knew it wasn't as okay as she'd want you to believe. Knowing it was easier to just help her instead of prying, you decided to do anything you could to make sure she knew she was safe at home, offering her anything that could help with that. You shooed her to the shower, so that she could clean off the grime of the long day of work whilst you worked of whatever else would be needed to pamper her.

You got out her favourite pyjamas and placed them on the radiator, so that they could warm up for when she got out of the shower. Whilst they warmed up, you turned on the kettle.

It whistled just as you heard Tamzin leave the bathroom. You poured out a mug of tea and carried it up to your shared bedroom where she was in her toasty pyjamas, slipping under the covers of you bed.

"Here you go," you smiled softly, handing her to mug, sitting down on your side of the bed so that you could wrap an arm around her, letting her know that you were there for her whenever she needed you.

"Thank you," she responded, taking a sip of it.

"Do you want me to leave you alone, or do you want me to stay?" You asked, not wanting to force her to talk about her day if she didn't want to and not being certain if she wanted time alone or not.

Tamzin paused for a moment before offering you a gentle smile, taking your hand in hers.

"Can you stay?" She asked.

You nodded your heads, slipping your legs under the covers so that you could properly snuggle up to her. Although she fell silent, the quiet was welcoming, letting the two of you just be happy in the company of the other.
