Chapter 26: Draco

Draco woke with a start and looked around. Harry wasn't there, then he spotted a note on the bed it read:
Hey babe, don't go to breakfast today, instead come to the lake. I have a surprise for you
Draco wondered what the surprise was but suspected a romantic breakfast picnic. As he took the portrait to the Slytherin dorm to get dressed he was thinking about what Harry would make for breakfast.
"Hey Draco!" Todd said "I'm guessing you were in the Gryffindor dorms last night"
"Yeah. Now if you don't mind Todd I need to get ready" Draco said deciding to wear muggle clothes. He put on a Beatles t-shirt with ripped jeans and a Slytherin hoodie "thank god for the muggle JK Rowling and her book merch" he thought. As he walked out of the castle a stag patronus approached him. "Hey babe" it said. Draco recognised the voice as Harry's "I didn't really want you to go to the lake. Follow the patronus and I'll be there".
Draco followed the patronus and came to the whomping willow. The patronus vanished and the tree froze. Draco noticed Crookshanks, Hermione's cat standing on a root. "You've really gotten everything perfectly planned Harry?" Draco thought as he saw a light appear in a hole under the roots. "Surprise!" Harry said as Draco entered the room "do you like it?" Harry hugged Draco and stepped back so Draco could get a better look at his surroundings. Draco looked around the room, it was dark and had a musty smell to it but Harry had lain out a picnic rug and lit candles. "Where is this?" Draco asked.
"The shrieking shack" Harry replied "I thought you would like the view" he gestured out the window where you could see the whole of Hogsdmede and the station. "It's beautiful" Draco said "now let's eat. I'm starving"

As Draco crept out of the tunnel he tapped the root to make the tree freeze. As he helped Harry out of the tunnel he heard a bloodcurdling scream. "That sounded like Stacie" Harry said. They both ran towards the scream. There was the biggest spider Draco had ever seen. "What is that thing" Draco said to Harry. "It's one of Aragog's descendants" Harry said "look there's Stacie!" Draco didn't want to know who or what Aragog was so he looked to where Harry was pointing. There lay Stacie's lifeless body, with two massive puncture wounds in her leg.
"Stupefy!" Harry yelled. The spider reared up at the force of the spell. "Stupefy!" Draco repeated the spell. "Lookout!" Harry's voice rang out and suddenly Draco felt a stabbing pain in his back and was pushed to the ground. "There's another one?" Draco hissed "I think I'm going to black out soon. You can't defeat them alone I'm getting help".
"Draco. Please stay with me. You need to help Stacie" Harry said tears streaming down his face. "I'll try" Draco groaned and got to his feet, he limped over to Stacie. The pain in his back getting worse. "Expecto Patronum!" He yelled and a silver ferret burst out of his wand "get help" he said as it scurried off. Draco felt his body becoming limp."Stupefy! Stupefy! Come on hit a weak spot already" he heard Harry yell. "Pretogo!" He yelled as he blacked out.

"Draco! Draco! Please tell me you're not dead" a voice said, shaking him.
"Uggh what?" Draco said, the world still spinning and the pain in his back worsening.
"He's alive Madam Pomfrey" Pansy yelled.
"Stacie is only just" Madam Pomfrey yelled back "you take Draco to the infirmary, I'll need to take Stacie to St. Mungos first and then transport Mr Malfoy. Draco groaned and blacked out.
