The door opens. And guess what. It's empty. Looks like Lennie just saved our lives without actually needing to. Remind me to thank him later. But the door starts closing. Almost immediately. Someone pushed the button. They're on their way up.

"Don't move." I tell Collin. He gives me a thumbs up.

We wait a couple more minutes and then the elevator comes up. But it's not empty. And it's not just filled with people. This shit just got real. There's a bomb in there. Holy shit. They're planning on getting rid of all of us. They drag it out into the hallway and Collin and I jump into the elevator before the door closes.

"Did you see that?" Collin asks me. "That was a bomb. That's it. We're all gonna die."

"Don't be negative. Being negative only makes you panic, and when you panic, you can't do anything productive."

"Well, let's talk about something to get my mind off of this shit. You got your eyes on any girl?"

Of course he asks that question. "Yes." I don't know why I said that. I never told anyone about that. Not even my close friend that I've known since first grade.

He raises his eyebrows at me. "And..."

"And I have most of the girls looking at me. They all want me as their boyfriend. Except this girl. The one girl in school who doesn't obsess over me is the one I like. I think that's how it always works."

"And this girl is..."

"Her name's Amy. She has dark brown hair to her shoulders and she's really nice. I just don't know if it will happen."

"Well maybe saving her and the school will change that."

"You want to know something funny?"

"Uhm..." Apparently he thinks that my view of funny is different than his view of funny. As if I'm not funny. "Sure, I guess."

"At the end-of-the-year eighth grade dance, a slow song came on, so I went to find Amy, but on the way, at least 25 girls asked me to dance with them. Twenty-five."

"That's a shitload of girls. I bet that if you took one of the girls into the bathroom you could-"

"Woah, woah, woah, WOAH. No. But I could've. But that's not the point. The point is, that in the time it took for me to find her, the song had already ended. I missed my big chance."

"How do you get so many girls to have a crush on you? I can't even have one."

"I recommend going to the gym and getting buff. Chics dig guys that have muscles."

"Okay, thanks."

The elevator door start opening. I look through the crack inbetween the doors to check, and there's nothing there. I can already see the library. Just need to cross the hallway.

Without dying.
