(Short A/N Time: TRIGGER WARNING. The next few paragraphs detail an extremely violent scene. If you don't want that in your life, please skip until you hit the stars and butterflies.)

Slap. "Tell me where he is!"

"I don't know, I told you, I don't know," a woman sobbed, her cheek red from the sting.

He placed a gun directly against her forehead. "I said, tell me!"

I dashed toward her with my hand outstretched, trying to reach her, trying to save her. I screamed until my throat grew raw, but neither the man nor the woman spared me a second glance. I ran, but they just kept getting further and further away. I watched as he gritted his teeth and slowly pulled his forefinger back on the trigger.

Blood spattered skin. Her eyes went blank as her head tipped to the side. Cream swirled with burgundy, burgundy swirled with cream. My body froze still as a statue, even though my brain commanded my limbs to move.

Suddenly the ground gave way and I fell, shrieking, into a black abyss. "Mikki?" a deep voice asked. I opened my eyes. I was laying on a field of grass, facing Taehyung who lay next to me.

He reached over and wiped something from my cheek. "You got something there," he murmured gently, showing me the smear of blood on his thumb.

My eyes widened when I realized what it was.

"Taehyung, no!"

I sat up, gasping. The nightmare again. Same as always, except for the part with Taehyung. That was definitely new.

"I knew that stupid paint design would get to me," I thought, rubbing sleep and tears from my eyes. I had no idea what time it was. There wasn't a window for the sun to peek through, so for all I knew, it could have been really early in the morning or nearly noon. I looked over at Taehyung who was still fast asleep, his breathing deep and even. His clothes were discarded to the side, and I could see his phone sticking out of his pants pocket.

Now might be my only chance. I silently slid out of the covers and tiptoed over Taehyung. Hardly daring to breathe, I glanced up to see if he remained deep in sleep. He did. I slid a bobby pin out of my hair and began to pick the lock, my ears pricked for any sounds of stirring. I wasn't trying to escape, but I needed out. Feeling nauseous as the scarlet swirls started protruding from the wall, I tried to hurry.

Out of nowhere, a large hand grabbed my wrist and yanked me down. I yelped as my face landed less than an inch from Taehyung's, his chocolate eyes looking sleepily amused. "And just what do you think you're doing, sweetheart?"

I pressed a hand to his chest and pushed away from him, a real blush creeping its way up my cheeks. "Nothing," I snapped.

"You were trying to pick the lock. How cute."

I huffed out a breath. "I'm just... I'm sick of being in this shitty room."

Taehyung's eyes narrowed as he sat up, his covers dropping to reveal his naked torso. His body was well-built, muscles popping from his back, shoulders, and arms. The tattoo, I was surprised to see, was highly detailed. It must have been quite painful to do, but the breathtaking artwork made it worth it. It depicted a gnarled, dead tree, the roots snaking down his hip, with three main branches shooting upward towards his shoulder.
