Author's Note Time

Hello again my kuties! Welcome back :)

CHAPTER WARNINGS: SWEARING, VIOLENCE. There are a lotta swears in this chapter, and by violence, I mean someone in particular showing off their badass self-defense/fighting skills. Don't forget to please love yourself first, and always!

I woke with a start, not recognizing my surroundings nor the lump of a human breathing deeply beside me. Once my mind caught up, I slowly stretched my stiff muscles a bit before getting out of bed. Taehyung rolled over and moaned. "You awake?" I asked. He didn't respond.

I picked up Taehyung's phone, and even though it was locked, I could see its battery was about to die. We also needed food and maybe more medical supplies. I scribbled a note on a pad of paper and was about to leave when he started mumbling. "Tae?" I asked, taking my hand off the door handle.

He groaned and flipped back over, his eyes still closed. "Five more minutes, Minjee," he murmured. "Love you."

Minjee? Who the fuck was Minjee? Shaking my head, I quietly pulled the door open and stepped into the afternoon air. I walked to a convenience store I remembered seeing about a mile back, taking advantage of the time alone to think.

So much had happened in a short amount of time. Just last week, I was living a semi-normal life, looking forward to a date with the handsome Hoseok and joking around the office with Soobin. I guess I should be used to sudden changes by now. Then again, I'd never been on a mission like this one where I was immersed so deep, I didn't know how I was going to climb back out. My undercover operations usually consisted of gathering contacts and keeping my ear to the underground black market. They never involved... well, getting involved.

With Hoseok, it was easy. He radiated positive energy I wanted more of, so I made sure he knew I was interested and went from there. The physical stuff was simple. It felt good, and there were no strings attached.

"He never gave you butterflies though," my mind whispered. "Not the way Taehyung does."

I shook my head and huffed. Yeah, he might give me butterflies, but things are constantly complicated with Taehyung. We go from bickering to cuddling so fast it makes my head spin. Sure, when we get along, he makes me feel special. When we do anything physical with each other, it feels... amazing. But is there more there, or is it just fun and games? I mean, clearly I'm not the only woman in his life. This Minjee girl obviously matters to him if he's dreaming about her. Suddenly, a foreign feeling shot through my veins, warming my blood and making me clench my fists. Jealousy.

"But we've done stuff together," I reminded myself, touching the place where he marked me. "Doesn't that mean something?"

"Since when do you care? It's all fake anyway. It'll never amount to anything more than a short-term relationship," my conscience argued.

"Fuck this," I muttered as I walked into the convenience store, shoving my thoughts away.

The cashier smiled at me, and I acknowledged him with a nod as I picked up a basket. I hoped I didn't look as disheveled as I felt. Traveling slowly down each aisle, I started gathering supplies. Gauze, check. Bandages, check. Any non-perishable food I thought Taehyung might like, check.

I'd wandered to the back of the store in search of a phone charger when I spotted a person inching closer to me out of the corner of my eye. They were wearing a black jacket with the hood pulled up, along with a black surgical mask that covered the lower half of their face. All of a sudden, they charged towards me and my adrenaline spiked. I whipped an elbow in the direction of their nose. Whoever it was gripped my arm tightly, blocking the attack.
