"We are now landing in Los Angeles, California." The flight attendant announced our arrival over the intercom.
After what happened last night with Kaycee, I booked the very next flight home. There was no way I was staying in Australia after all of that. I was eager to see how she was doing, to see her face again and to let her know that everything was going to be alright. I know Kaycee is an adult now and she doesn't need to be taken care of, but after last night I just can't help but to feel this way.
After I got off the plane and claimed my baggage I immediately got an Uber to my condo and dropped my bags off there. To my surprise there were police there looking at the scene.
"You must be Mr. Lew," A middle aged man with dark hair and blue eyes held out his hand to me, "I'm detective Brooks, investigating the incident that went on last night."
My eyes widened, "Huh? A case? Isn't it clear that what happened here was self defense?"
He paused before hesitantly speaking, "Well, that's not necessarily true, Mr. Lew-"
"Please, call me Sean." I said.
"Well, Sean, originally when the cops arrived on the case they thought the same thing after getting that phone call from Kaycee's brother, Devon. But then..."
"But then what?"
"When the cops came into the bedroom, we heard someone cursing and screaming, and it wasn't Josh. It was Kaycee. She had blood all over her and she was hitting Josh over and over again. I personally think something in her may have snapped and she just went crazy, but other cops don't fully agree with me." He looked like there was something else he wanted to tell me, but he wouldn't spit it out.
"Detective, please, what aren't you telling me?"
"People are making strong arguments that Kaycee plotted this whole thing. That she wanted revenge on Josh for what he did and that she purposely, I mean after all its his word against hers. They're the only two that actually saw what happened." Detective said.
Although I hated it, he was right. Kaycee and Josh are the only ones that actually saw what happened and even though I was on the phone the volume wasn't very clear and I don't know what happened to make the gun go off.
"Wait, his word against hers? What is Josh saying?"
"He woke up from the hospital after his surgery and began screaming when he saw Kaycee in his hospital room. Said the girl was a psycho bitch and that she deserved everything that was coming to her." Detective sighed, "I know this must be horrible news to hear, but Kaycee's parents bailed her out as soon as they heard and took her to their house."
"What the fuck, she was arrested?! What is wrong with you people!" I yelled at him before racing down to my car and driving to the Rice's home.
I couldn't believe what was happening right now. Josh is seriously gonna try and blame all of this on Kaycee? I thought I hated him before, but now its on a whole other level.
When I arrived at the Rice's home Kaycee's parents immediately let me inside their house. Their lawyer was sitting at the dining room table with a worried looking Kaycee holding her head in her hands. She was crying.
"What am I gonna do? What if I go to jail because they believe Josh over me?" She burst in to tears.
"Kaycee." I said her name causing her to look up at me.
"Sean! You're here." She jumped up and gave me a huge hug. "I missed you so much."
"Me too, Kace. I heard you spent a couple of hours in jail." I said to her and she nodded.
