Arthit POV
"Didn't you hear what I said?" I shouted, causing the engineering students to look down on the grass. "I ask how many first-year students are there in this goddamn field?!"
No one dared to answer my question. Who said that all departments must be trained through uncomplicated style? I mean, departments all over the university will be joining the Magic games a few months from now. There is no use to utilize Tmouths to obtain power like that. This wasn't our style, it was the University's principles to train these wizards. Through 2nd-year students were sent to simple quests. As for the 1st semester for 3rd year like us, we were abided to train the freshmen.
The daylight was oddly bright and its heat biting on my skin.
I knew now why Kong and M are named Terrible Two. From reading their files, Kong was a fire demon slayer and M was a water demon slayer. Both with ancient magic in their blood.
I've read from stories, a bunch of men summoned a Celestial demon, then they took its power and performed a ritual to one man. He had all the elements that were so unique, the infinity demon slayer magic. That was the first calling.
Then it follows over the centuries. When a wizard bears an X marking. That was when you know he's chosen to be a demon slayer.
Last night encounter with the Sabertooth Coven really hit my ego and those Terrible two who rained down a lot of trouble?
Is that true? But Kong was somehow the same. Yesterday, he was brave enough to ask a question and he wanted to ask furthermore. That scumbag. I knew he was trouble the moment he raises his hand.At this very moment of silence, asking the first years. Some were being frightened by my voice and others were on the point of losing control and start to sob.
Cry babies. I paced back and forth. I caught Kong hands his handkerchief to the girl next to him. An unrecognizable feeling takes it and her teary eyes show gratitude look.Oh that is sweet of him. I am standing right here and he's making me feel like I'm not even here?! The girl beside her wipes her tears away.
"Kongpob, 0062." I called. The girl beside him wince. She immediately held up her gaze at me with worry.
Kong rose.
"I will ask you." I said. "How many first-year students are there in your batch?"
"I don't know." He directly answered.
"Why you don't know?"
Kong was staring into my eyes. Huh. When did he get stubborn? "Because I never counted them."
He was about to sit down but I put my hand on his shoulder. Leaning forward, I whispered. "Haven't you forgot something?"
"Huh?" He furrowed his eyebrows.
"Your punishment. I don't like freshmen who want to tear the Coven apart." I said. "Instead of Sit and Stand. I want you to go to the tracking field. Do 60 laps with M."
"What?" M and Kong said at the same time.
"Are you nuts?!" Kong exclaimed.
"Kongpob!"
"Aren't you guys demon slayers?" Bright cuts in. "I've heard they have harder training."
I fixed my hair, earning a few sympathetic smiles from my friends.
"Is he crazy?" M whispered.
"Go!" I ordered. "Do the 60 laps!"
Kongpob POV
Refusing to be a bitch right now. M and I strode to the tracking field. We started doing our laps, it was impossible to do 60 for a normal wizard especially with this burning heat!
We were not allowed to do magic when doing lapses to make it easy.Sweat gathered in my forehead. Within a few seconds, my shirt got soaked.
My heart was pounding in my chest as I bit the air between my teeth.I resumed jogging while M's legs died in the middle of the track. The Gear hearts student medics were at the shed, one of them helped M to sit there.
"Nong! Nong! Stop for a while." The girl with a red cloth strapped around her upper arm was calling for me to stop. Her name was Fang. She was the only senior that was kind to everyone while the others were treating us like animals.
"I just did 10 laps." I said.
"It's fine. If you continue to do all those laps. You'll be exhausted." P'Fang said. She turned around to get a bottle of water. "Here. Take a rest and sit here. I will tell one of your mentors that you should stop, okay?"
"Aaaah." M was now exhausted by the heat. He laid down on the bench next to where I sit. "We still have more...how can we finish this?"
"Are you done with all laps?" Suddenly, P'Arthit was back. A mock smile playing on his lips.
"We're not." I replied.
"Why did you stop?"
"P'Fang told me to stop. She's a senior too. Is it not right to listen to other seniors?" I say, twitching my head on the side.
"Where's that fiery spirit you have? I thought demon slayers can handle this kind of stuff." He chuckled. "The terrible two. More like the terrible demon slayers."
Why is he playing with me? What would he gain if he keeps doing this to me?
"My past is none of your business, P'Arthit." I retorted. "Whoever I was cannot be measured who I am today."
"I'm your mentor, Kong. We need you to put in check. Next week. We will start harsh training." He looked at me more closely. "And about the date, we're going to. Same spot starting Thursday."
FOR YOUR INFORMATION ARTHIT RODGERS. I only asked you because you were getting on my nerves yesterday! We were not going on a date, you insolent asshole.
"Stop, Arthit." P'Fang came back with someone. But this someone was from Dad's company. His own personal bodyguard. "M and Kong are excused for the rest of the day. They have very important matters to attend to."
"What matters?" P'Arthit addressed to me.
I shared the confusion with P'Fang.
"You have a new mission, Kong." The bodyguard stepped forward. "There's a demon attack."
