Kongpob POV

I came to seven eleven to talk with my dad. He was seated next to me in the counter. "Can I ask why should I be close with him anyway?"

"John is the key to let you in." Dad said. "One wrong move. They'll find out about your secret mission."

"So, I must find that Katana and the dented Gear Heart Necklace?"

"You have to check every corner of that goddamn Coven. Everyone's got a dirty little secret." Dad eyed his surroundings. "You'll find it. You're the best among the others son."

"P'Arthit?"

I was strolling through the woods seconds ago to cool my head. Well, not until I saw a red-violet light in the sky,  so I followed the source and found P'Arthit.

He hastily gains his composure once he saw me, and faced the river, rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand.

"Are you okay?" I asked

He breathed before turning back at me. "I'm okay. The magic I used is way powerful than I thought."

"Celestial magic is awesome. I never knew you had that type of magic." I said, staring at the sky where the red-violet celestial magic vacuumed into the dark clouds.

"Why are you here? It's late." He sniffed.

"I'm here because I can't sleep." I lied.

"Well then...just" His voice betraying the fierceness he always had. "Just go. You're not supposed to be here, you should in bed right now."

He was about to walk away, avoiding me from asking what really was his problem.

"Wait a sec."

That made him stop on his tracks.

"If you want to cry, If there's something bothering you. Just tell me." I started. "I'll wipe those tears away."

"Kongpob!" A frown knitted.

I inched closer. P'Arthit shouted, jerking my hand away.   "You're my friend, P'Arthit. I hope you think the same to me as well, not just your junior." I said with a sympathetic smile. His eyes widened.

But why am I saying this? I shouldn't be. Because I still haven't found the person who killed my brother. Why my heart was being soft when I shouldn't? I was not a good person. I pretended everything. After this, I knew my father would transfer me to another school that was similar to Ravika University.

One more tear slid down on P'Arthit's cheek, I could hear his breath shakes. "I've grown to love I meet in Gear Hearts." He admitted. "I care about others. Because even we have this harsh SOTUS program, they still endure it and likes to have fun. I never knew a Coven is such a happy place. For the first time, I could actually make friends that I can truly trust, but who wants to make friends with a boy who would bring misery?"

"I know you're a good person." I gave him a soft smile. "I understand why you punish me."

I wasn't really good at cheering someone. But I had a feeling that there was an unspoken rule to all the freshmen.

"Kong..."

I couldn't resist it. I suddenly pinched his soft cheek.

"What?"

"Nothing, I'm so glad you opened up to me..."A half-smile crept over my face. "Just come to me if you want to talk about something."

P'Arthit just simply smiles back.

**********

The next day, we had a class in the morning with P'John. I was taking a demonology class with M and Tew, but M wasn't here yet.  As an engineering student, our work was to build secret passages and buildings.
Wizards today were also playing with science like ordinary humans, studying all that boring stuff. But our minors subjects could be important especially in using magic properly.

"Turn to page 240" P'John smiled broadly at us as he takes out his wand with a snake design slithering around it. He shuts the windows off.
We just open our books and look for page 240. P'John crossed into the aisle and at the back of the room.

I looked at Tew. Then his first page suddenly flipped rapidly and he is on page 240.

"Demon Plagas?" Tew said.

"But sir, we just learn about goblins and mermen, why do we have to study a demon parasite?" M popped out next to me.

"Quiet." P'John only said in a nonchalant and steady.

"When did he come in?" Tew asked me furiously. "Where did he come in?"

Of course, M could teleport.

P'John immediately turns on the projector and a picture of a parasite demon. Fleshy tentacles bursting on the head, wiping around.

"This is a Demon Plagas. A parasite demon that can prey on mage or human." P'John began. He was now standing in front, traveling his gaze across the room, and he spotted M. "Tell me, Mr. Krato. What happens when a person has a host of a Demon Plagas?"

M rose to his seat. "Once the Demon Plagas finds its host, it turns its victim into a zombie-like creature. They no longer remember who they are."

"Correct. And there are few Demon Plagas that had been summoned and used it for evil deeds by dark wizards."

"How can the demon slayers kill them?" The sound of a mockery I knew too well. I turned around to see that irritating grin from Strife. "Or...what if they are targetted by these disgusting creatures."

"We've killed them before. Trust me if you are one, I'll make you suffer before you die. " I answered.

"Aaaw, you're such a good person, Kong." Strife tilted his head to the side.

"It's only my way to say go to hell, you idiot." I replied.

"Then, I'll burn them with my hellfire magic, you silly fool!" Strife leaped to his seat, his cheeks were feverish red. I imagined little smokes coming out from his ears.

I laughed at him.

"Settle down, Mr. Lu." P'John said then he gets back to the topic. "Demon Plagas can also control the thoughts of its victims, which is terrifying. That's the reason why we have wards around campus because this is a Wizard school. Monsters couldn't get in here...Not unless they are summoned from the inside. The school borders are sealed to keep mortals and monsters out."
