It was a little over half past midnight when Shadow finally got to his apartment. His night didn't really go well after he left Amy's house. The mission from G.U.N. was more akin to a suicide mission. Any army that that would have tried to attack the base they sent Shadow into would have been slaughtered instantly. Not that it was a cake walk for Shadow though. A few bullets had found their mark, and one stab wound on his stomach from a very unlucky individual. Thankfully, the cut from the knife hadn't got to far before Shadow stopped it, but it left a nasty cut, regardless.
'Not the first time I've traced blood into my apartment.' Shadow thought as he made his way into his bathroom. 'It is the first time it's my own blood however. Should have just stayed at that party.' Shadow grabbed his first aid kit, which for him, might as well be an E.R. He began shifting through everything until he found wrapping bandages, and rubbing alcohol. He then began pouring the alcohol onto the wounds, followed up with the bandages. 'Yeah, the party would have DEFINITELY been more entertaining.'
After Shadow got his wounds addressed the best he could, he made his way into the kitchen. But stopped when he saw a figure in the window, which was followed by a knock at his door. 'Must be Rouge for the after mission report.'
Shadow opened the door, only to be surprised that it wasn't the bat. Instead, it was Amy, holding onto a plate of food. Her happy face was quickly replaced with one of panic and concern when she saw Shadow covered in bandages and blood. She didn't even notice the blood that trailed to a door behind the dark hedgehog.
"Oh My Chaos, Shadow!" Amy nearly dropped the plate in her hands, but was able to correct herself, "What did they do to you?"
"I'm fine, Ms. Rose," the ebony hedgehog ushered the girl inside as he closed the door, "How did you find me? Rouge said you were unaware of my living arrangements."
Amy sat the food down on the table of the kitchen, and turned to Shadow, tears filling her eyes, "Rouge said your communicator showed you got home safely, and I asked her where you lived. I just wanted to make sure you were okay, and that you got something nice to eat."
Shadow looked at the food now resting on his table, and felt his stomach growl. It had been quiet a few hours since Shadow ate one of his rations. A home cooked meal sounded really good at that point. "I appreciate it, Ms. Rose." The dark hedgehog started to make his way to the table to finally eat, but Amy stopped him.
"You need to clean up first Shadow," Amy gently placed her hand below one of his bullet wounds on his left arm, "And these bandages are all wrong. Before you eat, please at least let me help you get these on you better."
Shadow looked down at himself in confusion. The bandages cover all his wounds. So what did it matter that it was all a little sloppy?
After a few seconds, the only answer that passed the dark hedgehog's lips was a sigh, and that's all the pink hedgehog needed. Amy grabbed Shadow's wrist and pulled him to the bathroom. Once in, she quickly found his first aid kit, "Alright Shadow, get those bandages off, then sit down."
"How do you know you can do it better than I could?" Shadow questioned, but still complied with the request, and began undoing the wrapping on his left arm.
"Oh please," Amy began putting the rubbing alcohol on the bandages, "After being out for a year on my own, I learned how to take care of myself. I've had to do this a few times."
Shadow had gotten all the wrapping off of him, and was now sitting on the edge of the bathtub. After Amy had gotten all the bandages ready with some rubbing alcohol, she stepped over to Shadow, and began treating his injuries.
