Chapter 11

Almost done now. One chapter left to go!

"So, you say Shadow is still alive?" A man behind a desk looked over at the blue hedgehog that sat across from him.

    "Yeah," Sonic kept his head down, and wouldn't make eye contact with the G.U.N. agent, "And he is living with a girl named Amy Rose."

    "Huh," the agent began looking through some files stashed in his desk, "We don't appear to have any files on an 'Amy Rose'. How do you know her? And can you confirm the Shadow is in fact alive?"

    Sonic held up his phone, and pulled up a picture on it that he took a month ago, on Christmas morning, "Here they are on Christmas. She... she was my friend." The man sat in silence as he studied the photo. It was indeed Shadow, along with a pink hedgehog, holding each other in what looked to be a kitchen.

    "You say this was taken a month ago?" The man brought his attention back to the blue blur, who hadn't looked away from his shoes. In truth, he felt miserable after he seen the couple being as close as they were, and even now, he felt awful doing this to them. But Sonic couldn't stand the thought of them together anymore. It was killing him from the inside.

    "I'm sorry," Sonic brought his eyes up to meet the agent's eyes, "I was dealing with a lot."

    "Well, we really do appreciate this Mister Sonic." the agent stood up and made his way to the door. "I'll be sure to let our commander know, and we will have the two arrested."

    "Wait!" Sonic rose from his chair. He didn't want Amy in jail either. He was hoping that they would just take Shadow. "Please. Don't arrest her. She hasn't done anything wrong."

    "With all do respect, Mister Sonic. She is essentially hiding a criminal. This 'Amy Rose' will also have to face the circumstances just as much as Shadow will."

    "You can't do that!" Sonic blocked the agent's path from the door, "She had no idea that he was a wanted man. Please just don't take her too."

    The two stood there, staring at each other. The agent was weighing his options, but eventually, the agent shrugged, "Fine, we will leave her alone. We just want Shadow anyways. Consider it as a way to thank you for keeping the planet safe."

    The blue hedgehog nodded as he stepped out of the way of the door, and the man made his way out. "But, if she tries to assist Shadow in escaping, we will be forced to take her into custody." Sonic was left alone in the room, just with his thoughts and his guilt to accompany him.

    "Amy, are you home?" Shadow made his way through the front door, just getting off work with Tails.

    "I'm in the front room Shady." The dark hedgehog walked into the living room to see Amy warping around the room, using the Chaos Emerald Shadow gave her months ago. She had improved a lot, training by herself, and teleporting to work and back, and even surprising Shadow at work sometimes.

    "You know," Amy teleported in front of her boyfriend, "I think I'm really getting the hang of this. I've even gotten better with stopping time. I can hold it for a full 10 minutes now!"

     Shadow chuckled as he grabbed the pink hedgehog by the waist and kissed her forehead, "What is 10 minutes while time is stopped, love?"

Amy only shrugged and kissed Shadow on the cheek.

     "Just a little bit more training, and you'll be just as good as me." The dark hedgehog released his hold on Amy and began making his way back towards the kitchen, swinging a plastic bag around his hand, "Go ahead and take a break for now, I bought us some dinner."
