Love at last (ShadAmy)(COMPLETE)

Chapter 3

Silence overtook the apartment. Both Shadow and Amy were frozen to their respective spots, thinking over Rouge's statement. 'I swear, that bat will be the death of me.'

"Rose." Shadow called into the hallway. Amy tensed up a little. She was hoping Shadow wouldn't notice so fast.

Taking a few deep breaths to calm down, Amy stepped out of the hallway, making sure not to make eye contact and keep her hands behind her back. "Oh hey Shadow. I was just...uh...going to the bathroom. Man, that rouge, huh? What a crazy bat, right?"

"Rose."

"I mean, why would she say something as nutty as you like me, am I right? And what did she mean when I was blushing like crazy? Isn't that--"

"AMY!" The pink hedgehog gave out a small yelp as Shadow gotten right into her face. Their eyes met, and were completely focused on each other. But there was no anger in the dark hedgehog's ruby red eyes, but instead, they looked questioning, confused, and longing.

Shadow stood up straight after gazing into Amy's eyes for what felt like forever, but he never took his eyes off of Amy's emerald colored orbs. "Is Rouge being honest?"

"About..." Amy was trying to avoid the question. What if she heard that all wrong, and Shadow really didn't like Amy? What if Rouge was just assuming everything, and Shadow just wanted the bat to leave because she was annoying him? But most importantly, what if Shadow actually did like her?

Shadow placed his hand gently on the wall behind Amy, with the other balled into a fist and placed on his hip, "Rose, do you like me?"

'Wow he doesn't mess around. Blunt and to the point, while somehow able to be extremely casual about all of this.' Amy gazed up at Shadow, and their eyes locked together again. "Shadow...I..."

A knocking came from the door, much to Amy's approval. She wasn't ready to tell Shadow. But he was more than ready to confess to Amy.

"Yes?" Shadow swung the door open, "Oh, it's you."

Sonic poked his head in the door, "Hey Shades. Long time no see."

"What do you want, Sonic?"

"Well I thought I saw Amy come this way, and I wanted to make sure she was okay."

"I'm just fine, Sonic!" Amy crossed her arms, "By the way, thanks for showing up to my party. Oh wait! That's right, you didn't!"

"Hey, I'm sorry Ames," Sonic threw his hands up defensively, but he never lost his trade mark grin, "But that's also why I'm here. I wanted to ask you if I could make it up to ya with a movie date, and a walk in the park."

Amy's face lit up with anger, "Oh, now you ask me for a date? Couldn't have ever been any of the thousands of times I asked, or all the times I made the attempt. But no, it has to be right now. Now that I like Shadow, you have to ask me out?"

Shadow, who was letting Amy handle the situation, was now been paying close attention, and had genuine surprise painted on his face. In Amy's rage, she completely forgot to censor her words. The pink hedgehog turned her gaze to Shadow slowly, turning a little bashful, "Heh...I guess the secrets out, huh?"

Shadow's expression didn't change, however. He didn't think that a girl like Amy, would actually like a guy like him. He just thought Rouge was pulling one of her pranks on him. Just as Shadow went to reply, the two turned to the sound of Sonic laughing hysterically. "Wait! You like Shadster here?"

"Yeah, what if I do?" Amy threw her anger back onto the blue blur.

"Well," Sonic was still chuckling, wiping tears from his eyes, "It's just, it's Shadow. The Edge Lord, the dark angsty hedgehog that hates everyone. Do you really think that he would--"
