You took the best years of my life
I took the best years of your life
Felt like love struck me in the night
I pray that love don't strike twice

What's Love Without Tragedy?

As Beyoncé stepped outside the airport and right into the warm, muggy air of California, she pressed the power button on the side of her phone. Notification after notification buzzed within the first five seconds of the phone being powered on. A smile graced her lips when she saw her new boss had messaged her asking how the flight had been and to let her know when she landed.

Bey quickly hit the phone icon at the top of the message thread and brought it to her ear, the smile never leaving her face.

'Hi, Ms. BeyBey!'

"Hi, Mani! I just landed, and I wanted to say how gr-" before she could even finish her sentence, Normani stopped her.

'Don't you dare say tHaNk YoU aGaIn FoR tHiS aMaZiNg OpPrOtUnItY, and hOw GrAtEfUl you are I gAvE yOu A cHaNcE. Bitch, please. You are one of the most amazing dancers in this world, besides me of course, so if you thank me again, imma hit you. I won in this, not you.' Bey let out a small giggle while her stomach filled with butterflies. The kind words Normani had been saying to her since they met last month always made Bey's heart and soul feel good. 'Anywho, there's a car there to pick you up and bring you to the hotel. The other dancers that are already here are checked in and just hanging out for now, since we don't start rehearsals and shit til tomorrow. SO swing by my room when you get here, and I'll fill you in. Bye, BeyBey!'

Before she was even able to really respond, Mani hung up. There was so much commotion on the other end that Bey wasn't too worried about it. Her phone buzzed a second later with Mani's 'room number' at the same time the driver appeared in front of her. "Ms. Knowles?"

"Oh, yes! Sorry, yes, that's me." She let out a nervous chuckle before rolling her suitcases towards the car.

"I've got those ma'am." The driver insisted after opening her door and taking the luggage from her hand.

"Thank you." A small blush appeared on her caramel cheeks as she slid into the leathery backseat.

To occupy her time, she scrolled through her Twitter and IG, wanting something to keep her mind busy and nerves steady. She was so excited, and even though Mani doesn't want her to say it, she's so grateful for the opportunity. Dancing is something she's wanted to do her whole life. During her Junior year of high school, the girl she had the biggest crush on since they were fourteen, Robyn, told her she should do it professionally. She told her she was one of the best dancers she'd ever seen, including the ones that were famous. That compliment might've seemed so small to her Bajan crush, but to her it meant everything. After that, she made the final decision to make dancing her profession, her career. She worked her ass off and got into NYU, graduating with honors. mentions, and at the top of her class. During her time there, she worked beside many wonderful and amazing people and mentors, and they all encouraged and pushed her to be the best. At the young age of twenty-three, she's fresh out of school and feels like she's ready to take on the world. This is the first big gig that she has, and she's ready to show everyone what she's made of.

After arriving at the hotel, the driver walks her luggage to one of the hotel employees. "Ms. Knowles. You will be staying in room 1408. We've got you all checked in." Bey smiles and nods her head once as she follows him to and on to the elevator. Once the doors are closed, she shifts and looks around nervously. "Ms. Hamilton has requested you go to her room at your earliest convenience. If you'd like, I can take your luggage to your room, and you can head on up to the presidential suite now." The young man stared at Beyoncé with a small smile and an arched eyebrow as he waited for her to answer.
