Hey, my names Mikayla and this is the story of how I died... for about a minute or two... technically.

But, before we get to that, let me give you some back story.

I'm thirty-two years old and I'm the owner of a large company. That's right, I'm in charge of running a multi-million dollar company and I'm not even middle aged.

That was all thanks to my mother, she ran the company before me for nearly four decades. Unsurprisingly, she started when she was only eighteen years old. She got pregnant with me when she was in her early twenties, but that didn't slow her down one bit. She worked every day until I was born, and even then she fought like hell to stay at work that day. If that's not mother of the year material, then I don't know what is... god, I can't roll my eyes fast enough.

Anyway, to call my mother a workaholic would be an understatement, and I guess that's why I hated working. But, the doctors found a brain tumor about a year ago and forced her to retire early, leaving those very big shoes for me to fill...

The agonizing beeping of the alarm woke me up.

With a loud groan, I slammed my hand down on the button, effectively silencing that stupid thing, and sat up on the edge of my bed.

I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths, when my phone rang out from the nightstand.

With an annoyed sigh and a roll of my eyes, I answered.

"Hello?"

"Uh, Miss Berd, we need you at the office right away." Came my secretary's voice.

I rested my hand on my forehead. "What the hell for?"

"Well, one of our partners feels like they've been ripped off and the boss is here right now, yelling and making demands. I'm sorry to bother you this early, but we don't know what to do."

I lowered my head. "Just, keep him there, I'll be there soon."

"Alright, thanks miss-"

I hung up the phone and quickly got ready for the day before charging downstairs and out the door to my car.

I floored it out of the driveway and down the street.

Turning onto the highway, I got stuck behind someone who clearly didn't understand the concept of a speed limit.

I angrily tapped the steering wheel as I followed behind the person, about twenty miles an hour under said speed limit.

"Come on, I don't have all day." I muttered to myself.

I could feel myself getting angrier and angrier the longer I sat behind this person.

But, before it all boiled over, I saw my exit.

With a sigh of relief, I clicked the turn signal on and started turning the wheel, just as someone flew by, cutting me off and almost running into the side of my car.

I slammed on the brakes. "Are you fucking kidding me!?"

I quickly sped up to the car, pulling up next to him at a red light.

"Excuse me?" I asked, rolling down the window.

He turned to me with a smile, rolling his down as well. "How can I help you, beautiful?"

I scoffed. "You can help me by giving that piece of shit you call a car back to the dealer because clearly you don't know how to drive it. The fact that you have a license amazes me, that instructor must have been more fucking stupid than you are."

"Hey, you better watch who you-"

"Piss off, if you're gonna hit me than bring it on. Until then, though, kindly eat shit." I cut off before rolling my window up and continuing my drive to work.

I got there just in time to realize someone took my parking spot.

With a long sigh, I pulled into the only open spot, which just so happened to be behind the building, adding minutes to the freezing December walk I'd have to make to the front doors.

When I finally got in, I took the elevator all the way to the top and walked in, passing my secretary on the way.

"Miss Berd, I'm glad you're finally-"

I put my hand up. "I want whoever's in my parking spot fired immediately and would you kindly point me in the direction of the reason I'm here so early?"

She nodded. "Absolutely, he's already in your office."

I nodded back before walking into my office, seeing an older man already inside.

He shook his head as I entered. "Thirty minutes late, is this how you conduct a business, Miss Berd? How am I supposed to get help if the boss isn't even in? We're supposed to be partners, remember?"

As he continued his barrage, I could feel the anger starting to bubble in the pit of my stomach.

"Are you even listening to me, Miss-"

"For the love of god, shut the hell up!" I yelled.

He took a step back as I inched closer.

"Listen to me you whiny son of a bitch, I don't care what your fucking problem is and I don't care about any future problems you may have, because as of right now, our partnership is terminated. Now, kindly get the fuck out of my office!"

He quickly sprinted past me and out the door.

I collapsed into my chair, my breathing heavy.

My vision started to get blurry and I felt lightheaded.

I closed my eyes and shook my head, but it was only getting worse.

I leaned forward to pick up the phone on my desk, but almost collapsed to the floor.

"Jesus, what the hells going on?" I asked myself as I slumped back into my chair and pulled my cell phone from my purse.

I quickly dialed my secretary's number.

"Miss Berd? Is everything ok?" She asked.

"N-no, call an ambulance..." Then, I felt my eyes getting heavy before I dropped my phone and fell out of the chair.

Everything around me going black...
