(POV) Saber
Poor medic. If I would have known they would send a defenseless medical student, I would have gone easy on him. Instead, I stab him through his stomach and fled. I should have realized sooner when he didn't fight me when he saw me walking around the room. Well, maybe I shouldn't feel too bad. He was working for the people that capture me.
I was lucky because that was the only living soul I came in contact with as I made my way through the maze like base. I was trying to make my way to my swords and accessories they took from me. Those things are too precious to leave behind. The question is, where are they?
A couple signs were put up on the walls here and there with multiple languages inscribed in them. This further reinforced the fact that I was captured by a worldwide organization. Part of me was a bit on edge. I might be going up against the best of the best to just try to escape this place. Oh well, as soon as I get my blade back, they won't be an issue.
One of the signs on the wall pointed towards a hallway and written on it was 'evidence room'. If my sword was at this base, it was probably in there. Down the hallway was a door, I presume a locked door.
As I made my way towards the door, I pulled out one of my small daggers. The door had the special card reader like some of the other doors that I have walked past on my way here. That will slow down my progress. I can think of a couple ways to deal with this lock, but I don't know if they will work.
I stick my knife in between the wall and the card reader. I try to pry the card reader from the wall with a bit of force, but it doesn't budge. After moving the knife left and right, I manage to get a little more of it between the wall and the reader. I try to pry the thing off again and this time I succeeded.
The card reader popped out of its place on the wall and revealed a bunch of tangled wires. They were colour coded so it was easier for me to follow where each one started and finished. Now to play the guessing game. I moved a couple wires and try to pick the one that might be the one that opens the door.
"Excuse me sir? Did you forget your card?" bellowed a voice behind me.
The sound of footsteps filled the hall as the man moved towards me. If he has a card, then I should use that to my advantage. It didn't sound like he meant any harm, which was weird. I turned around to face the man and was surprised at the smile he gave me. Does he not know who I am?
"I've never seen you here before. You must be new" the guy said.
He moved closer as I analyzed his body movement. It truly didn't seem like he was going to attack me. Very weird. I guess I'll use that to my advantage. The man was wearing an all black attire that was composed of a t-shirt, sweatpants and a pair of sport sneakers. In all honesty, it looked very similar to mine, minus the long sleeved hoodie and the physical attributes. The longer I thought about it, the more it seemed plausible that this guy actually thought I was one of them.
"You'd be surprised how often this happens. My guess is no one carries their base card with them at all times. We had to replace this reader four times in the past two months. In a base full of creative and resourceful operators, there is really no need to put these card readers. They'll just get hacked or trashed. It's not like their stopping anything from entering anyways. Could you give that to me?"
I've only meat this person for a couple of minutes and I'm already tired of hearing him talk. It was nice of him to provide me with a tiny bit of information, even tho he didn't mean to. The man was gesturing to the device I still had in my hand, so I handed it to him and watched as he put it back in its place.
"You don't talk much, do you?" the man said.
He swiped his card that he had taken out of a pocket not long ago and placed it back. The reader flashed a green light and pronounced a name. If I heard it right, it said 'recruit Johnson'. I'm going to take a wild guess and say this guy's name is Jonson.
"Well, hope you find what you're looking for. See you around" Johnson said.
He walked away in the direction he came from. I looked at the open door, then back towards his retreating form. There was no way that actually happened. I must be the luckiest man in the world. He didn't even question me about my injury or what my name was. He should have seen the white cloth on my leg. Oh well, now to find my sword and get out of here.
As I entered the room, I spotted multiple signs pointing to different sections of the room. There were multiple gun racks spread throughout the room. In one corner of the room, I spotted my sword and my scabbard. Right next to it where my glasses and my bandanna that was taken away from me on the flight to this place.
I placed my sword in its scabbard and place it on my back. My glasses were put on my face next, quickly followed by my bandanna that I placed over my mouth and nose. I reached for my hood and placed it on my head. With my sword on my back, I felt invincible.
The next thing I had to do was leave this labyrinth like base and try to get back on track. It's not like those monsters are going to kill themselves. Now that I think about it, I might need a couple directions for the locals. Anyways, that's something I'm going to have to deal with later. My soul priority is to get out of here.
