(POV) Saber

The metal chair I was sitting in was very, very cold. It was like someone put it in a fridge for days, then brought it here. It was uncomfortable to say the least, but that wasn't my biggest concern right now. Sitting in an empty room on a cold chair was something I had done before, but I had never been in a room with 5 angry military operatives and their leader before.

I had tried to convince myself that all of this was a bad dream, that my mom was still dead and that I wasn't in the custody of some military organization. It worked for a bit, I was stress free, my brain wondering to random topics. That was until I was shoved into a chair and handcuffed to it.

"Hello Saber, my name is Harry. I'm the leader of Rainbow" said the man in the wooden chair in front of me. "I know your not much of a talker, so I'm going to do most of the talking and hopefully you will open up to us later on"

That wouldn't be very likely, but if he wants to waste his time trying to get me to speak, I'll let him.

"So I presume you don't know what Rainbow does, so let me explain and maybe it'll help you understand why you're here" the man said. "First off, Rainbow was established as a worldwide counter terrorist organization. The operatives were hand-picked from the best counter terrorist units base on their combat skills and mental skills. The whole point of Rainbow was to ensure the world had a unit that could be deployed at anytime and to anywhere"

"Over the years, Rainbow has had many leaders, all going under the code name of Six. The Six's job is to overlook the operators training, selection and Rainbow deployment missions. I took on the responsibility of Six some time ago and I learned a lot from these people and I think you could to"

What on earth does he think I'll be able to learn from these gun wielding maniacs? How to properly assemble bullets? Group mentality? Oh oh, let me guess, the proper way to start a food fight.

"You look skeptical. It's alright, I was too at first. Now, you must know that the United States government would really like to put you on death row and never see you again. Since we aren't part of the United States government, we have first say on what happens to you and so I offer you a deal. Rainbow would really benefit from having someone like you on the team. What do you say?"

Interesting. I escape their captivity, injure one of them and tried to escape from them again, and they try to recruit me? Something might not be going right in his head. I heard a couple unhappy noises coming from the other operatives in the room, some looking at each other with confused expressions. This Six person completely ignores all of them, still staring at me. I wish they wouldn't have taken away my glasses... or my bandanna. I hate people staring at me.

"What's in it for me?" I asked.

Of course there was the fact that I wouldn't be turned over to the US government, but it would be easier to escape from them then it would be to escape this place again. After all, I've done it before.

"You would get a place to sleep, train, eat and learn. You might find new friends as well, if some manage to forgive you for what you have done"

Most likely not. Either way, I don't need friends.

"Before you give me your answer, I would like to know what happened the night before the attack. I don't think you were caught by medical staff. Were you?"

Should I tell him? I wouldn't reveal much if I did, but still. Well it doesn't matter. They'll find ways to get the information one way or another.

"That night, I still had an injured shoulder. I tried to find a place I could hide long enough to heal myself. Once I reached the city, I started walking around to search for options. I stumble onto a gathering of two people in front of the school that was attack, my mother and the terrorist leader. It shocked me since she was supposed to be dead. That and the loss of blood made me pass out in front of the hospital. Next thing I know, I'm in a hospital bed and my shoulder is covered in white bandages"

At this point, I might as well tell them my whole life story. I guess in time I will since I'm very inclined to taking that deal.

"And after waking up in the hospital, what did you do?" asked Six.

"I freaked out. Took out the tube they put in my arm, put my weapons back on and looked for an exit. The window in the room showed me the cops pilling outside the school on the other side of the road and I knew my mother had to be in there. I tried throwing everything at that window to break it, that's why the room was a mess, but I managed to break it. The cops didn't know what to do when they saw me dash towards the school, but they did try to yell at me to turn back around"

"I'm guessing you found your mother at some point right?"

"Yeah, she wasn't too pleased to see me. I tried talking to her, but that only got me thrown through a metal door" I answered.

"Hm, so what was your plan when you entered the building? What made you decide to go in?" Harry asked.

"I just wanted to see if I hadn't hallucinated. Maybe get some information out of my mother. I don't know"

I did know. For the past three years, I've been chasing after the people that killed my clan, my family, the people I shared my past with, and I was right in front of the person that could answer all my questions. Turns out she still thinks I'm a failure.

"That emblem on your knives, why did you try to take it off?"

How did he know about that?

"You left a knife behind. We had someone analyze it" he informed me.

Oh, that makes sense.

"Bad memories, tried to get rid of my past" I said.

"Hm, it's never that simple now is it?"

I shock my head. No, it never is. The past always seems to come back somehow.

"Well, now that that's covered, what is your answer?" asked Harry.

You know when you are faced with a decision that can change your life and you start thinking about how different your life could be depending on what words escape your mouth? I always thought that those moments would never happen to me, but here I am.

"I accept your deal. Where do I sleep?"
