The Doctor's Shadow

Chapter six •atmosphere•

"It let you go!" The Doctor said. He helps me up and then looks at the Derogue with confusion.

"That didn't take as long as I thought it would." He said raising his eyebrows.

"What?" I say gasping for breath."why would you think that?" He shrugs his shoulders, still looking at the creature.

"It, it looks exactly like me." I say amazed."well, except for the fact that it doesn't have hair, glasses, and it's all black."

"Indeed." He states.

"What do we do now doctor?" I ask him.

"I don't know...and I hate not knowing."

The Derogue is just standing there, motionless.

"I think it's trying to gage how to kill us." He says finally looking at me.

"Wonderful." I say obviously sarcastic.

"I know!" He said with an all too real smile. I just look at him like he's mad. Which he is.

"Your insane Doctor."

"I know!" He says again. I look away and roll my eyes. Just then he tackles me to the hard yellow ground.

"What the heck Doctor!" I scream, him still on top of me.

"Look up." He whispers in my ear. I do and I see the Derogue has moved. I can't see it anymore.

"Doctor, where's it gone? Where did it go Doctor?!" I plead to him.

"Look to your left." He says a bit louder that time. I do again and I see it standing motionless in the distance. I see it than turn its head and it looks like it's ready to run.

"Doctor!" I scream. He leaps off of me and points his green tipped thing at the running creature. It vanishes in a cloud of black smoke that disappears quickly from the atmosphere.

"Are they gone?"

"No."

"What? When I said that I expected you to say 'yes Gabrielle, they are gone. We are safe now.'"

He looks me in the eyes with a fierce expression on his face.

"I would never say that." He says now smiling. I smile back, forcing myself to a small laugh.

"Where is it then?"I ask, bringing myself to the reality that I'm not safe, and probably will never be.

"It's temporarily trapped in the atmosphere of this planet. Scattered across the atmosphere. If however, even two of the particles collide with each other again, than the Derogue will come back into existence in the exact spot it left. So, basically, RUN!"
