Things I Wish I Had Been Told

You will fall in love, and it will be the most amazing thing you've ever felt in your life. But the first person you fall in love with will not be the last, and it'll hurt like hell when their chapter in your story has ended.

Sometimes, you will feel like shit for no reason. You'll hate yourself over the little things, and you'll blame yourself. But listen to me, it is not your fault. Not always. You are imperfect, as is everyone else on this earth. You will make mistakes.

Selfless isn't healthy. If you spend all your time lightening the burdens of others, yours will get heavier, and heavier. It is okay to take a me-day and pamper yourself. It is okay to want to vent your problems. It is okay to love yourself.

You need sleep and food. Things will get hectic, you will run and run and run from one place to another, but sleeping and eating are more important. Do not cut sleeping, eating, and relaxing out of your schedule to make room for running and chaos.

Some people are more addictive than nicotine, and hurt you worse than anything. But as much as they say they need you, nothing is worth being disrespected and hurt by someone who pretends to love you. Wanting to leave, wanting to run, is okay.

It is okay to be scared. Everyone gets scared of something. But just because it's scary doesn't mean you should run and hide for the rest of your life. There are things you need to do that will terrify you to no end, and you need to either get up and do it, or brush yourself off, relax, and try again later.

It is okay to mess up. No one is perfect. So what if you got a lower grade on a test than you usually get? You can't answer every question perfectly.

You need room to grow, just like everyone else. Do not let others take away your room to grow by putting you in a restricting little box of what is 'right', or 'normal'.
