The Wrong Potter

Chapter 6

after my conversation with professor lupin, he convinced me that I should try out for the quidditch team. the only problem is that im seeker, like brandon. if I manage to be better than him than I would be "cheating". I could easily beat him. I just never wanted to because I didn't feel like dealing with the argument. But hey, I need a distraction.

Quidditch trials are this afternoon for the Slytherines, so I might as well go watch the Gryffindors try outs. See who will be the Slytherins competition 

Of course James and lily are here. There precious baby boy is trying out for the quidditch team. Sighing I sit of the other side of the stairs where James and lily can hopefully not see me. Wouldn't want to cause any trouble now would we.

Oh here they come. Of course Brandon is looking cocky. I almost guarante that the captain was told to put him in seeker before they try out. But who's going to admit that ?

Player after player and finally they are over. I honestly don't see the big deal about Brandon. He's a mediocre player, nothing I can't beat. I quickly get up before James and lily see me.

I still have an hour before quidditch tryouts, so I decide to head to the library and study, maybe I should try to study and get my marks back up. I mean at least then I'd have something I could brag about. Not that I would. I don't really like all the attention. I'd rather have my achievements be noticed by Abi.

After reading I completely lost track of time. I realise I have 10 minutes before tryouts. I put the book back on the shelves and make my way to the pitch. Thankfully the turn out isn't that big. I can see Proffesor lupin there however. We've agreed to be friendly but nothing more than that yet. The main position is seeker, just my luck. Why couldn't they have tried out for chaser. Well the more competition for me

"Seekers, you can play first. Because your group is so large we will get you out of the way first" said the captain, Flint I think his name was. I'm sucky at names so I wouldn't know. Oh well.

Drill after drill and flint soon got rid of the weak. We went from about 20 to 5 on 10 minutes. I mean I made it this far

"Hayley potter, lets see if you can hold up to your brothers reputation"

"He's a mediocre player flint, we all know that, I wouldn't be here if I knew I couldn't be better"

That must have taken flint by surprise. I see a small smile form on his lips, it wasn't evil or anything, it was more sympathetic. One thing you should know about Slytherins are that we stick together, no matter the circumstances.

"Okay potter well play a deck game. There are now 2 of you left, our last year seeker Draco Malfoy, and you. No bribery this time, it is on pure talent" he said walking off

We split into teams. Most of my group was on the quidditch team last year.

About 3 minuits into the game I see the snitch flying up past Malfoys head. He's to busy fawning over the chaser to notice that I'm on the money. And by the time he does it's to late. I have the snitch securely in my hand

"Hayley caught the snitch team 2 wins" said flint

Everyone was standing mouth gasped open. They obviously didn't know that I played quidditch.

"I think it's safe to say that Hayley is our new seeker. Catching the snitch within the first 5 minuits"

Draco looked furious, but I didn't care. Inside I was dancing. I was happy

"Potter go clean up, Malfoy she won that fair and square, next time keep your head out of the gutter and do your job"

I remember walking out of that stadium with my head held high, and knowing that life was getting better. Even if it was slowly
