It had been 6 days and Cameron nor China went to class. He'd been gathering notes from both of their classmates and also doing some of her assignments while she recovered. The week had been pretty rough for them both. China could barely manage to get out of bed. Cameron would often have to carry her to the shower. She wouldn't eat much either. Just a few bites of fruit, smoothies and lots of water. Cameron could see that the light inside her was complete out but he had to be the strong one.
"What class are you working on?"
Cameron looked down at China whose head had just emerged from the covers after a very long morning nap. He smiled and ran his fingers through her hair.
"I'm not doing classwork. I'm working on a business plan. Tyler Perry's studio and the talk we had last week had me feeling inspired so now I'm just rough drafting all my ideas."
"What's the plan?" China inched closer to him and rested her head in his lap so that she could see his laptop.
"I don't want a whole studio. I could never do what he did but I do want my own production company. I don't want to just produce, I want my hand on all aspects of the industry."
"Wow, 64 pages? Did you sleep?"
"No, not yet. I got caught up in this."
"Tell me more."
"Okay so I'd produce movies but I also want my own casting department. This way I can avoid things like type-casting. I also want to have a mentor program for child actors. Also maybe some classes catered to them so they know what they're getting into."
"So all the things we didn't have growing up?" she half-joked.
"Exactly."
China was sitting up now and resting her head on his shoulder. "This is incredible."
"When you're at 100% would you do me a favor and check for errors? I also wouldn't mind your input."
"Of course," she wrapped her hands around his bicep. "What if you did like a couple different types of classes?"
"What do you mean?"
"Like have educational classes for child actors. Then have something that helps teenagers transition into more mature roles. Maybe some fish out of water courses that goes over both the business and art of acting. Maybe some parenting stuff for self proclaimed momagers."
"Damn." Cameron exhaled. "Damn. That's good."
He scrolled down to a fresh page and began typing down her suggestions.
"Have you thought about investors?"
"Oh hell no," Cameron shook his head. "I plan on making this very, uh, ethnic. I want to focus on Black and Native actors and I'm going to make that very clear. So I highly doubt I'll get any backing. This will just come out of my savings. All I really need is money for one floor of offices in a building in Manhattan. The rest will fall into place after that."
"I'll invest." China shrugged.
"What?"
"I'll go half with you. Or whatever percentage you need."
"Seriously? You'd go half with me on this? Half?"
"Yeah. Of course, I want to read your thoughts all the way through but I believe in this vision so far. And I believe in you."
