The girl woke up at night, the moon's unnaturally bright light blinding her eyes. Sand was everywhere on her body, making her small wounds sting when she moved her limbs. Making every movement feel punished with needles of pain. She pursued, however. Standing shakily and wobbling her way throughout the vast desert...towards the temple. It was absolutely enormous, and beautiful, even with its damage and ominous vibe. A giant, dried up lakebed caught her attention, seeing the pillar of light emitting from it. On her left was a castle-like ruin, with yet again, another beam of light. But she shook her head and kept going, limping and wincing. Rubble laid across the land, the remains of the bridge being the girl's path.

It felt like days, but she finally reached the shrine. The stairs feeling like torture, stabbing the thorns on her feet into her even more. The moon's light casting a shadow throughout the hall. Once she was on the ground, the girl collapsed again, holding her legs.

"Ow, ow ow..."

She whined and groaned, sore and hungry. Her throat hurt from not drinking for a while. Carefully, she dusted herself off and began plucking the thorns from her legs and feet. There was so much sand and dirt that she didn't even bleed. Each thorn removed sent a sting, but she was used to it after the fourth one. As she was taking out the thorns, she observed her surroundings.

There were sixteen destroyed statues lining the walls, each having small walls of their own to separate themselves from others. They all had different looks from what she could judge, some where animalistic, while others were humanoid. Sixteen statues, sixteen lights. There were obvious connections...The girl wasn't as concerned with her safety as she was curious. She stood up, having removed the final thorn. Still hurt to walk, but if she was going to rest here, she might as well look around. She observed the statues, even coming up to a few she found interesting and giving the crumbling heads a pat or two. Plant life had overgrown the temple, yet, the statues remained untouched by the vines.

She entered a circular room with a winding pathway leading up to a closed entrance, a small hole shining moonlight below. It was above a pool of water that must've came from the rain.

Without hesitation, she bent down and began gulping down the water. It was freezing and somewhat dirty, but after not drinking for hours, this felt like a gourmet to her. She sat back and heaved a sigh of relief, her throat not hurting as much anymore. She rubbed the water on her wounds, to try and clean them out a bit. The cold definitely helped with the soreness as well.

The girl walked back into the halls, seeing a small slab on the area between the two exits...an almost bed of some sorts. Cold, tired and still a bit sore, she opened her bag, got a blanket made out of the finest silk and fur(which, of course, she stole), wrapped it around her and laid down on the platform. Staring at the distant stars...and the pillars of light.

This land...peaked her interest. She was definitely going to stay for a while, at least until they forget about her and what she is.
