Armored horses galloped through the thick forest, their riders decorated in crossbows and swords. The horses' heavy hooves splashing the puddles underneath them. Stars covered by thick clouds and the trees' branches, leaving room only for the shining moon and strange distant pillars of light. The men could barely see two feet in front of their faces, but the lights were their destination. They knew their target was hiding there, somewhere.

"HALT!" The Captain barked, the men behind them skidding to a stop. He must've found something. Carefully, The Captain jumped off his horse and approached the object he found appealing. It was...odd. A giant grey scrap of shredded hard scales, as well as some unique fur next to it. The fur was...seared. By fire. Its size and shape were unique and were still warm. It had a texture, almost like rock and sediment...The source must be nearby.

"You two, go and find whatever put this here." The Captain growled, pointing at two men. They immediately obeyed and went off to find it. Whatever this came from, it was gigantic. The shredded scales were as big as The Captain's entire arm. His mind immediately jumped to a conclusion; The fire colossus must be there. Just the thought of her flaming wings sent a shudder down his spine. But he didn't need to focus on that right now; his target was Aiko. That girl must be brought back for the trial. What she is must never be seen.

He and a small portion of his men resumed their race towards the forbidden lands. However, much more cautious. Whatever left those burning scales behind, it was probably lurking somewhere nearby. It interested him, however. Colossi were a species rather than a select few, but very little was known about their lifestyles. How do they reproduce? Are there hybrids? Are they naturally aggressive or passive? Do they even know what humans are? These questions floated around in his head as he and his men trotted down the faded dirt path. He almost didn't notice the increase in temperature. He halted, making the group follow suit. With the stealthiness of a mouse, The Captain made his way towards the supposed source of the heat.

He could've swallowed his heart. There, in the middle of a small pond, was a colossus. And not just any colossus. It was Adar Flam, the queen of flame. He tried to stealthily walk away...But by the time he reached his men, she had already heard his whimpering breaths.
