Phaedra's columns jingled pleasantly as she made her way to the ruin in the lake. The path was tight, but nothing she couldn't handle. Aiko sat on her back, observing the surrounding mountains and cliffs. Hawks flew in almost perfect unison in circles above, squawking and screeching. Lizards skittered up the rocks, their little feet making a "pitter patter" noise. Squeaking occasionally. Phaedra paid no mind to them, but Aiko peered at the little lizards, wanting to hold one.
Before she knew it, they both were at the lake. Phaedra didn't need to swim, for she was tall enough to just walk through the water and over the fence. Spiked legs shaking the earth, causing pebbles to fall into the water. Aiko hopped onto the hard skin on Phaedra's head, holding the neck brace. She gazed around, searching for the colossus. There were old, worn temples, some with high bridges connecting between. Small, square platforms barely poked out of the water, just high enough for someone to stand on. The entire lake was surrounded by cliffs, casting a shadow over the water as the mist clogged their vision.
A loud splashing noise caught their attentions. Phaedra squeaked, her head whipping towards the source, almost flinging Aiko off. Near a set of platforms and bridges, a bird-like colossus splashed and squawked, barely being able to surface itself. It was obvious that its wings were sore, so with each movement came a wave of pain. Phaedra took a few steps forward to try and rescue the poor bird, but almost slid underwater at a steep drop. Not wanting to risk anything, Phaedra backed up and called at the colossus. She reached her head out as far as she could, her reins dangling.
The eagle-like colossus managed to swim close, but not close enough for him to get any footing. He was utterly exhausted, with only enough strength to weakly try to keep himself above the water. Phaedra, distressed, let out a whimpering whine, stepping just a little closer. She nearly lost her footing, as that was as far as she could go. Avion drifted closer, losing his composure. Although, it seemed like they both had an idea. Phaedra shook her head forward, causing the reins to be within Avion's reach. With his remaining strength, he bit the reins and Phaedra lifted him up. She quickly ran out to the grass, keeping Avion above the water with one of her front legs. Aiko could only watch, as she didn't want to interfere with anything. Avion was carried all the way back to the shrine, where he was placed in a dry area. His entire body was soaked and cold, blood staining the tips of his wings and tail. The once shiny metal spines were now dulled and broken. His breathing was slow and drawn out. All of the energy he once has was now almost completely gone...But now, under the warmth of the sun and with some company, he could heal. For the most part.
