Hamilton sat alone in his cell wishing his mind would catch up with his actions. Some people say that God has a plan, and everything will work out in the end, but to him, this seemed far from the truth. It seemed foolish and a myth because the truth he knew was a downhill slope. In fact, it seemed as if his mind, actions, and feelings went out drinking and are now racing down the hill to see which one can let him down the most. So far everything seemed tied.

He was taken out of his thoughts by a loud creak signaling that the cell door had opened. He started at Laurens, who was seemingly unharmed, until Laurens finally made eye contact. Hamilton could see that Laurens' once warm and forgiving now held sorrow and hate. His once joyful smile was replaced with a scowling frown.

"Alexander?" Laurens asked grabbing Hamilton's attention. "Can I ask you a question?".

Hamilton scanned Laurens' face which held no emotion. He reluctantly nodded.

"What goes on in that little head of yours?"

Hamilton tilted his head in confusion.

"I mean as soon as I'm gone you go find another vulnerable man to fill that void in your heart. What will it take to fill it, Alexander? It obviously wasn't me because it took what? Less than fifteen minutes to get over me. To move on to someone else, our captor nonetheless!,"

"John-"

"Let me speak! Do you know what I gave up for you? I broke my own rules trying to be good enough for you!"

"You don't understand,"

"What is there to understand? You left me for him!"

"Actually, you left me. You're the one who called the engagement off!" Hamilton yelled losing it patience. (Not that he had very much to begin with)

"Still being a wannabe know-it-all even in a serious argument, typical Alexander,"

"And you're still having trouble letting go, typical John,"

"Does anything besides snotty comments come out of that mouth?" Laurens sneered.

"I don't know, ask Adriene he kissed it about thirty-forty minutes ago," Hamilton stated in a harsh yet blunt tone.

Laurens was silent. He didn't know wat to say. He knew it was true because Adriene had been bragging about it, but it was different hearing it from Hamilton.

"Why do you insist on pushing me away?" Laurens half screamed.

"Oh, so I'm the one pushing you away? That's funny because the last time I checked you were the one wanting to call off out engagement, so you didn't have to deal with me!"

"That was one time! What about all those times when we lived together? Huh? You slept on the couch because you didn't want to sleep in the same bed as me! Why did you do that? Because I was trying to make sure you were staying alive and you have the confidence to say I'm overprotective! I wish someone cared about me the same way I care about you!" Laurens screamed, stepping closer to Hamilton.

"C-care?" Hamilton asked realizing Laurens used present tense.

Laurens only brushed off the question.

"I can't believe I love you! You out of all people! The most selfish and inconsiderate person I've ever had the horror of laying eyes on!"

"Yeah okay I'm selfish! I know I am but at least I'm not trying to make myself the victim of this stupid relationship!"

"Ex-relationship," Laurens scoffed correcting Hamilton.

"Oh, there you go again!"

"I'm starting to realize how much of a pain you are! How much of a nuisance you can be! I don't know why God spared your life in the hurricane, but I wish he hadn't!"
