"Well, what should we do now?" asked Tyler. "Just get away from here. Keep a low profile," said Josh. "Which way?" Tyler inquired. Josh pointed East. "Up."
They walked for about a mile, before they realized they didn't have the necessary survival equipment. There wasn't any food, water, anything. Josh's advice was to "just keep walking until we hit civilization." So they walked hand in hand for a few more miles, before noticing city lights ahead of them.
Josh let out a sigh of relief and Tyler whooped. As they walked down the road to civilization, the sun began to rise.

"So... what are we going to do?" Tyler asked. "We don't have any money." Josh thought for a minute. "Well... we should worry about water first. We're both really dehydrated," he said. "Ok, so let's find a water fountain," said Tyler. They walked down a few blocks before finding public restrooms, and, thankfully, a water fountain. They took turns slurping down as much water as they could.
"Alright, if there's a grocery store, there might be free samples..." Tyler said hopefully. "Well we passed one as we were coming into town," said Josh. "Let's go back and look."
To their disappointment, the store was closed. There was a diner open though. It was called "Patrick's." "Maybe we could go in there," suggested Tyler. "It would at least be a good place to rest." Josh agreed, and they walked in.
A short, strawberry-blond man in a fedora greeted them. His name tag said "Patrick." "How many?" he asked. "Umm, two," said Tyler. "Ok, would you two lovely gentlemen like a booth?" Patrick smiled. Josh grinned at being gendered correctly. "That would be great, thank you."
Patrick lead them to a booth by a window. "Alright, what would you like to drink? Hot chocolate? Coffee? Tea?" Tyler and Josh glanced at each other, then looked back at Patrick. "Thank you for asking, sir, but we're just here to rest," said Josh. "Nonsense! You look starving. I'm getting you both whatever you like, on the house," Patrick said firmly.
The boys grinned. "Well then, I'll have a hot chocolate," said Tyler. "Me too," Josh added. "Excellent! Two hot chocolates, coming right up," Patrick chirped.
"I like that guy," said Josh. "I know right?" Tyler chuckled. "He's amazing." They watched as Patrick danced around the kitchen, whistling cheerily.
After they had looked at the menu for a little bit, they both decided on pancakes. Patrick came back with the hot chocolate, complete with whipped cream and marshmallows. "Ready to order?" he asked. "Yes please, we'd both like pancakes," said Tyler. Patrick's eyes twinkled. "I can do you one better: chocolate chip pancakes," he grinned. Tyler and Josh perked up. "I'll take that as a yes. Would you like scrambled eggs and bacon as well?" The boys nodded eagerly. "Alright, everything will be here in a moment," said Patrick.
"So... I guess this is our first date," Josh smiled nervously. "Well it's a good one," said Tyler. "Free food at an awesome diner for breakfast? With my man? Absolutely perfect."
Patrick came back a little after they'd finished their hot chocolate, with delicious-looking food. "Here you go, and like I said, it's free. Tell me if you guys need anything." The boys thanked Patrick, then dug into their food. By that time, the sun had almost risen completely.
Tyler looked at the clock. "8:15. They'll probably come looking for us soon." Josh nodded. "Let's finish the eggs and bacon and take the pancakes to go," he suggested. "Good idea," said Tyler. They shoveled down the eggs and bacon, then called Patrick over. "Could we take the pancakes to go please?" Tyler asked. Patrick pouted. "Leaving so soon?" The boys nodded sadly. Patrick thought for a moment. "Guys, do you mind me asking something?"
