(Ben's pov)
"Mal please tell me what is going on." I quietly said as Audrey was getting closer.
"Just meet me behind Chad's house. And don't tell Audrey where you're going." Mal answered before hanging up.
"Sorry about that." Audrey said as she walked back in and shut the door behind her.
"It's fine, but I just remembered something. I'm supposed to be having dinner with my family tonight." I lied.
"Oh." Audrey nodded and looked upset.
"Hey it's gonna be okay. I'll see you tomorrow. We'll hang out then." I assured her.
"I know it's just this whole thing. I went missing. Then you got arrested. We've barely seen each other." Audrey explained.
"I know, but it's gonna be okay. I'll see you soon." I replied and kissed her before leaving. I drove to Chad's house and quietly made my way to the woods. "This better be good Mal."
"It is. Look I didn't realize it last time we here, but look." Mal pointed to ground where there were footprints.
"So? That could've been Chad's dad's shoes." I told her.
"I don't think so." Mal responded.
"Why do you say that?" I asked.
"Well haven't his parents been gone after he died?" Mal questioned.
"Yeah, but that could've been before." I stated.
"No this is new. And his parents haven't been home." Mal replied.
"So you think the actual kidnapper came back here recently?" I wondered.
"Yes." Mal nodded.
"So why did I have to rush and get away from Audrey?" I questioned.
"Because there's something not right. I feel like she's lying. There's no way Chad had her for days and never took his mask off." Mal explained.
"Yeah, but she told me she did know. She just was too scared to say anything." I reminded her.
"Ben." Mal sighed. "Audrey knows Chad voice. When she told the whole story of what happened there's no way she didn't realize his voice."
"So what are we gonna do?" I wondered.
"I don't know. There's nothing really to do. We don't even know who's footprints these are." Mal responded.
"Should we call the police and they can get a detective to figure out who's footprints those are?" I suggested.
"But they'll know we came back here." Mal replied.
"Well Mal we have to do something." I told her.
"Let's just go back to my place and figure this out." Mal said.
"I don't about that." I was hesitating.
"I promise nothing is gonna happen. We'll just go and try to figure out what to do." Mal was assuring me.
"Fine. Let's go." I agreed and we made our way back to my car. When we got to Mal's house no one was home. "So now what?"
"You want to order pizza while we try figuring this out?" Mal asked.
"I guess." I shrugged. "I'll call the pizza place." Then I walked out to the back to call the pizza place.
(Mal's pov)
It was a few minutes after Ben walked out to call the pizza place, then there was a loud knock on the front door. I looked back, but Ben was still on the phone. I got up and looked out the window, but didn't see anyone. So I opened it and there still wasn't anyone there.
I shut the door and was making my way back to the living room. Then there was another loud knock. "Whoever this is knock it off! It's not funny." I said opening the door and still not seeing anyone.
As I went to shut the door something stopped it, then the door slammed open and someone in the black mask and those gloves Chad had walked in with a knife.
"B-Ben!" I was crying out. I fell to the floor and was crawling backwards to get away. "Ben!" I kept yelling.
Then Ben ran in and stopped right behind me. He helped me up and got in front of me. "Who are you?! Sow yourself!" Ben was telling them.
They didn't say anything or take the mask off they just started walking closer to us as we were backing up. We backed up against the wall. Then Ben ran up to them to grab the knife, but they stabbed Ben in the arm and pushed him down and kept walking towards me.
They raised the knife up and were about to stab me, but then there was a police siren. They turned to the front door. Then made a run for the door Ben came from. Before they left they looked at both of us. "It should've been you." Then they ran out.
"Ben! Are you okay?" I ran over to him and helped him up.
"Yeah I'm good. Are you?" He replied asking as he was holding his arm.
I laughed a little. "Yeah I'm good, but we need to get taken care of. You might need to get stitches." I sat him down on the kitchen table chair.
(Later that night)
"Well how'd it go?" Someone asked.
"I didn't do it." The masked man responded.
"What do you mean you didn't do it?" They questioned getting annoyed.
"I'm sorry I was going to kill them, but then the cops showed up." The masked man was explaining.
"So they're still alive?" The person checked.
"Yeah, but don't worry I will kill them soon." The masked man promised them.
"You better. Or I'm gonna have to do it myself and I'll have to kill you too." They said.
"Don't worry I will." The masked man stated with a smirk.
I published this one tonight, but I going to change it to just Fridays and Saturdays. Instead of Thursday too
