When They Met

(Ben's pov)

It was the first day of junior year. I walked in and spotted my best friend, Chad.

"Bro!" He yelled and picked me up.

"Chad! Haven't seen you in so long!" I replied.

"I know. How was your summer man?" Chad asked.

"It was good. How about you?" I responded and asked him.

"Mine was amazing. I actually met someone." He told me.

"Really who?" I wondered.

"It's Evie Grimhilde." Chad said.

"Does she go here?" I questioned and looked around.

"Yeah she's in drama. Oh dude did you hear the news?" Chad asked.

"What news?" I replied asking.

"The Jake Wright, the captain of the tourney team graduated. So there's gonna be a new captain." Chad explained.

"Really?" I wondered.

"Yeah." Chad nodded. "That spot could be mine."

"Yeah." I said.

A few hours later I was at my locker when Chad came up from behind me.

"Hey dude!" He yelled and I jumped.

"Jeez Chad! You really gotta stop doing that." I told him.

"Alright sorry man." He replied with a laugh. "I want you to meet someone." 

Chad pulled someone up and it was a girl with brown long hair.

"This is Audrey. Audrey this is my best friend, Ben." Chad introduced us.

"Hi it's nice to meet you." I said and held my hand out.

"You too." She said shaking it.

We just stood there smiling at each other not saying anything.

"Come on Bennyboo say something." Chad was teasing.

"Bennyboo?" Audrey questioned with a laugh.

"Yeah. That's what he calls me." I stated sort of embarrassed.

"I like it." Audrey told me with a smile. "Bennyboo it is."

(A couple weeks later)

Me and Audrey have been spending a lot of time together and were starting to grow closer.

"Alright boys gather up." The coach said when we were in the boy's locker room. "It's time to choose the new captain."

"Here we go." Chad whispered to me.

"Our new captain is... Ben King!" The coach announced.

"What?" Chad asked shocked.

"What really?" I asked walking up.

"Yes. You've earned it Ben." The coach told me.

I looked over and noticed Chad wasn't looking too happy.

"Hey Chad. Look I'm sorry about what happened back there. I really thought he would've picked you." I told him.

"It's alright man. It's like what coach said. You earned it." Chad replied, then walked away.

"Hey. I heard the news." Audrey said from behind me.

"Hey yeah. I'm the new captain." I stated.

"So you are." Audrey said smiling. "You want to celebrate later?" 

"How?" I smirked.

"Tonight at my place. We'll have the place to ourselves because my parents are going out tonight." She explained.

"Well then I guess I'll be there." I said.

"Can't wait." She replied, kissed me, then left.

Later was walking to my car and bumped into someone.

"Oh I'm sorry about that." I apologized.

"It's cool. Ben, right?" They checked.

"Yeah. How did you?" I was about to ask.

"You're on the tourney team. And I guess the new captain. My friend is on the team too." She explained.

"Oh." I nodded. "I should get going. I got plans tonight." I said, then walked to my car.

(At Audrey's)

I pulled up and walked to her door holding flowers. I rung the doorbell and waited for her to answer. When she did she looked at me, then the flowers in awe.

"You really didn't have to buy me flowers." She told me.

"I know I didn't have to. I wanted to." I responded.

We were sitting in the living room eating and talking.

"I'm really happy I met you." She said.

"Me too. Thanks to Chad." I replied.

"Yes thanks to him. Here's to Chad." She raised her cup and so did I.

"Can you make me a promise?" She questioned.

"Of course. What is it?" I wondered.

"Will you promise to never cheat on me?" Audrey asked.

"Isn't that a promise all couples make?" I wondered.

"Yeah, but I know it won't happen with you." She answered.

"Well then yes. I promise I won't cheat on you." I promised her, then we started kissing.

As we were kissing we heard the door start to open.

"Run! You need to hide somewhere. My parents don't know you're here." She told me.

I ran upstairs and hid in her room. I heard her talking to her parents.

A few days later she walked into school with a new look. Blonde hair with green and pink streaks. 

"Wow what happened?" I asked.

"What do you mean?" She looked at me.

"Your hair. It's different." I told her.

"I know. I dyed it. Get used to it." She said and continued to walk by me.

"Audrey seems different." I told Chad as we walked to class.

"What do you mean?" He questioned.

"She doesn't seem like herself." I replied. "She's changed.

"Well I don't know what to tell you man. I gotta get to class." Chad said, then kept walking.

(Present time)

I saw Mal walking in looking around. Then she started making her way to me.

"Hey Ben. Have you seen Audrey? I need to talk to her." She asked me.

"You didn't hear what happened?" I checked.

"What happened?" She questioned.

"Audrey went missing after the party." I told her.

"She what?" Mal asked shocked and almost yelling.
