Chapter 26: I Want Only You

I sat on the front porch, in a rocking chair. I slowly sipped on a cup of black coffee. I'll need this.

Derrick assigned me a week bed rest before we left. It's been a week and tonight, after dusk, we are leaving. We aren't bringing anything or anyone along with us. Were both leaving Stacy here. We know that someday we will find her and tell her where we are. We aren't going to say goodbye because we know we'll meet again. Stacy will always be my best friend.

The sun was setting, so I stood up and went into the kitchen, washing my coffee cup. Then, I went and took a hot shower. It will be the last one I take in the cabin.

I got out of the shower at eight. Derrick will be here in a half hour. I changed into a pair of jeans and a white, long sleeved shirt. I brushed my long hair and then put it up into a high ponytail. I brushed my teeth and then put on my favorite pair of converse.

I walked into the kitchen and made myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I sat down at the dining room table and ate my sandwich in peace.

I was about halfway done with my sandwich when there was a knock on the door. I wasn't expecting Derrick here for another ten minutes. I had a perfect view of the door from the dining room. "Come in." I shouted.

The door slowly creaked open like in one of those horror movies when the girl watches slowly as the door opens to face her murderer. Only I was the girl hiding in the closest and Jake was the murder.

"Oh. It's you." I said sadly.

"And you say it's like a bad thing." Jake said closing the door.

"You know, I was just comparing you to a mass murderer." I said.

"Says the one who has an executor as a boyfriend." Jake says through laughs.

"How many times do I have to tell you that Derrick doesn't kill people."

"He killed Mollie's abductor." Jake stated.

"That's different. He was going to kill Mollie if Derrick didn't kill him." I said starting to raise my voice.

"Everyone deserves life. Even after you've done a terrible thing."

"Why don't you go tell that to your dead friend!" I yell louder than intended.

"I can't because YOU killed him. Not Derrick. You. You cause all the problems. You cause death. You take everything away from everyone!" Jake yells.

"Get out!"

Jake grips my wrist tightly and pulls me up from put of the chair. I'm only an inch away from his body. "Let go. Your hurting me." I cry.

"This is how it felt when you yelled at me. It hurt." he whispered at me as I tried to escape. His grip was too strong.

"What are you going to do about it? Kill me?"

"No." He let go of my wrist and ran out of the cabin the back door.

When he left, I gripped the back of the chair and sat down. I try to act as though I wasn't scared, but really, I was terrified. I breathed heavily as I try to get my breathing back to normal.

Their was a knock at the door. "Muffin," Derrick chanted. "you in there?"

I squeezed my eyes shut and took a deep breathe, trying to get myself together. I stood up and went to the door. 'Act normal." I told myself.

I opened the door and found a grinning Derrick. He grabbed my waist and pulled me into him. Derrick gently kissed me on my lips. "Ready to go?" he asked, letting go of my waist.

"Yeah. But we still haven't decided where were gonna go." I said with a forced smile. And he noticed how fake I was being.

"What's wrong." I said and rolled my eyes. Dang. I did it again.

"You're lying." he said, changing the happy mood in the room to a depressing mood.

"No I'm not."

He looked at me suspiciously. I knew he wanted to fight me about it, just by the look in his eyes I knew. But he didn't fight me about it. He knows he won't get it out of me. So, he put I big smile on his face and pretended as though we had never had that conversation.

"Let's go." he said putting an arm around me.

We walked out of the cabin and walked down the path that lead to the main gate. We walked to the gate in a half awkward half comfortable silence.

When we got to the gate, he opened it with the code and it slowly opened. "So, what's the plan once we get your car?" I asked breaking the silence.

"We go a couple hundred miles up the highway to a town with a train station. I think it'll be in Tennessee. Then we take the train going west. Then you choose where you want to go. Oregon, California. I honestly don't care. I just want out of here."

"I know. I just don't want to be your...problem. I don't want to be the reason you're leaving."

"Is that what bothering you?" he asks rubbing my shoulder. Instead of going into the whole story I just nod my head. I expected him to say that it wasn't my fault. He's doing it for him. But no. "I did this for you. Because I love you. And I want to be with you. The only way I can do that is if I go with you. So I didn't do this for me, I did this for us."

"You always have the best things to say. Thank you." I said giving him a hug.

"I'm just speaking the truth."

We walked through the gate. We walked deeper into the woods, hand in hand. "Where's your car?" I asked.

"Just another mile or so." he said, pointing straight ahead.

We walked a little bit more. I heard a loud 'click'. I felt something hit the back of my head. I little rectangle maybe. Derrick stopped which made me stop too. Derricks face went pale. "What?" I asked.

"Don't move."

Hello my lovely readers/fans! I know it's been like what? A week and a half since I updated. I've been a little...distracted. I just got a new puppy and she won't leave me alone so it took me days to write this. I'm sorry :(

The song suggestion for this chapter is....drum roll....We are never ever getting back together by Taylor Swift. Of you are wondering why I chose this song I shall tell you :). The main event in the chapter is when Jake comes and so as you can tell they are never EVER getting back together.

Remember to comment. Fan. Vote! Thanks! Have an awesome day/night.
