“I swear that he was right here!” Maize said.

“Seriously, Maize. There’s a reason Steve moved us all the way down here, and it’s to be away from 5SOS; not near them.” I attempted to explain to her.

Maize had been trying—and failing—to convince me that she had seen Calum Hood for the past half hour now, but I wasn’t giving in.

“I swear it though Zoe!” She was getting frustrated, and I could only assume that she was getting frustrated with herself and not me.

“Can we just go get food?” I asked in exasperation, wanting her to just drop the subject.

A huff escaped Maize and she scowled. “I swear, nothing ever goes my way.” She huffed and stormed away, stomping towards the cafeteria, where the staff had undoubtedly already gathered. I sighed before following her.

When we arrived, the room was packed and the line was long. In silence, we got in the back of the line full of people and waited impatiently for it to move. I stood there, arms crossed and my foot tapping on the ground, while Maize angrily typed away on her iPhone.

“I just want my damn food …” I muttered in annoyance.

My friend huffed again, this time irritated with me. “Shut up and stop being so impatient,” she snapped, but I could tell she wanted food just as much as I did.

I ignored her, turning away a sighing. I was growing more and more impatient by the second. I found myself getting bored which led to me examining the room. White walls, sad beat up lunch tables, and a bunch of people wearing red Live Nation shirts, but one group of people in the far left corner had caught my eye. Oh my god I thought to myself.

“Maize?” I whispered just softly enough so, only she could hear me.

“What?” She answered looking up from her phone.

Turn around and look to the left of the room.” I told her.

She gave me a puzzled look and looked anyway. Her eyes grew wide.

“OH MY GOD!” She screamed.

“Maize chill out before we get kicked out” I said.

We managed to get a few stares and glares from people, but Maize didn’t seem to care.

“I’m sorry,” She paused. “I freaking told you they were here.”

I looked up once again at the corner where they were standing and had noticed one of them was staring at us. Ashton. I must’ve been staring because next thing I knew Maize was snapping in my face. I just slapped her hand away. She shook her hand in pain and looked in the direction I was staring at.

“Told you,” she teased, giving me a smirk. “Zashton is legit; and I ship it.”

I smirked. “Shut up.” I blushed.

Well … now I know who your favorite is,” she said, still smirking at me. “It’s meant.”

I barely heard her, smiling to myself; before my smile fell completely. Maybe I am a little bit of an Ashton Girl, but I just turned 17 and he’s a 20-year-old who lives across the world.

Literally.

The line moved pretty fast after that. We got our food which consisted of Pepsi, potato chips, and a hamburger. I practically forced Maize to go back to the dressing room and eat because there was no way I was eating in front of 5 Seconds Of Summer.

“Come on Zoe,” She sighed. “I could’ve gotten my super amazing stalker skills going.”

I laughed. “Yeah because that doesn’t ruin any possible chances at all.”

“Since when did you regain hope?” She asked me.

“I don’t know.” Is all I said.

Before the conversation could continue there was a knock at the door.

“Come on in.” I called out.

It was Steve. “Hey guys just got news you can start taking seats they’re opening the gates in about 10 minutes.”

“Oh alright let me grab my bag.” Maize said.

“Where are your seats?” Steve asked me.

“We only have lawn.” I sighed.

“Hm,” He huffed. “You ladies seem pretty dedicated to these boys.”

“Yea we love them.” Maize and I both said.

“How about we move you ladies to the pit?” He smiled.

“No way, really?” I asked.

“Yes.” He laughed.

“THANK YOU!” Maize shrieked.

“No problem,” Steve said. “If you want front stage we better go.”

We both nodded and followed Steve outside to the stage area.

“Nice meeting you girls,” Steve smiled leading us through the entrance of the general admission pit.

“You too Steve and thanks again.” I smiled.

He nodded waving his last goodbye.

We were half way through the concert at this point and the second guest band had just got done playing their last song. The set up was taking forever for the main event. 5 Seconds Of Summer.

Finally, after about 15 long minutes of waiting the lights went dark and loud roars and screams filled the arena. It was time. Maize was screaming bloody murder and practically breaking my eardrums, but I was pretty excited, too; jumping and screaming in excitement.

At last the lights slowly came back up and one by one out came them. First out was Calum, then Luke, then Michael—to which Maize began to screech even louder—and, lastly, Ashton.

They started playing their first song which I recognized as ‘She Looks So Perfect’. I began singing at the top of my lungs keeping my main attention on Ashton and how much he got into the drums when he played a song. Stop it Zoe.

It was now around 8PM and it was half way through their set. Luke was now making some type of speech and Calum was messing around with Michael. Ashton was staring into nothing, but, as Luke finished his speech, he interrupted.

“I’m sorry to stop you Luke, but can I just say that girl with the dark black hair, and the black and red 5SOS T-shirt is the prettiest girl I have ever seen.”

I sighed and looked down at my hands, knowing that the girl he was talking about wasn’t me.

Maize elbowed me on the shoulder and I glanced up only to see a bunch of stares coming in my direction. My guess was it was because I’m completely ignoring the girl getting recognized by Ashton. I looked down again in sadness only this time I noticed. I was wearing a black and red 5Sos shirt.
