Twelve Hours Prior
The rest of the night seemed to rush by rather quickly, as Skyler spent roughly an hour trying to convince Grizz that they should go back to his place instead of her own. What she'd expected to be a traditional teenage boy's room covered in football gear and motivational pieces, was instead a cozy abode bearing comfortable blankets and a blue wall filled with aging dinosaur stickers from a childhood long gone.
Skyler's leg dangled off the side of the boy's full sized bed, where the two of them lied curled up, feet tucked under thighs and arms wrapped around shoulders; a mess of entangled body parts. Her head was planted comfortably on Grizz's chest, and she was sure if it were a bit quieter she could hear the beating of his kind heart. Spielberg's original Poltergeist played quietly on the tv a few feet away, and despite their shared interest in horror movies, they weren't watching it.
"I'm pretty sure I would have went to NYU." Skyler admitted as she and Grizz conversed about college, which seemed like a complete afterthought at that point. "It's pretty there, and I'd still be able to dance."
"It's a good school." He said, and Skyler could feel him running his fingertips over her back. "Just, a little too close to this place."
"Hey, there's no place like home." She cracked a smile, her eyes drifting over to the digital clock on the wooden nightstand. 2am.
"I'm not sure after this whole abandonment thing." Grizz shook his head, and Skyler lifted herself up, pushing her lips to his for what seemed like the millionth time that night.
"I like being here with you." She pulled away, snuggling back underneath the blue blanket placed over the two of them. The light from the TV, and the moon were the only sources illuminating their two bodies otherwise lost to the darkness. "We can stay forever, right?" The brunette asked, wanting to avoid the harsh reality that would return come morning.
A soft laugh left Grizz's throat causing the girl to smile. "Sure, Sky." His fingers stopped tracing her spine, resting firmly on her waist instead.
"Grizz, do you think this would've happened if things were normal?" She questioned, her hazel eyes falling to the corner of the room where her prom dress hung. "You and I?"
"I don't know," He shrugged, "I think the universe always finds a way to make things possible."
The conversation eventually died, developing into a comfortable silence. The movie continued to play in the background, capturing Grizz's attention. But Skyler's eyelids couldn't help but grow heavy, as she found herself slipping in and out of consciousness; inevitably giving in to the sandman.
