Chapter 5 ~ Our Lady Of Sorrows

I woke up in the dark once again, unsure of the time, but convinced it was morning. I stood up and walked back in the direction I remembered coming here in, maybe I'd find Eden again, who knew? Maybe I was stick here forever. I did all the turns as I remembered them and got back to where we came in, I could see the light, It was like the opening to heaven, I'd made it! I could go back to my house (if you could call it that) but before I stepped foot into the daylight I head a voice, it wasn't my dad's this time, "Go back" a woman's voice said "Find Eden" it said, it couldn't be, my mother? She had been gone for years, no way. "Don't even ask" the voice went on "Yes, this is your mother, I've missed you so much" how? Was she going to haunt me? Maybe it wasn't my mother, maybe it was just yet another trap.
"Why should I trust that is true?" I asked. I heard the echo of a sigh, "I promise you it is your mother. Please go and find Eden" the voice went on, I supposed it was rather unfair for me to just abandon Eden, better to forgive than forget, so I made the desison to go back.

I turned every corner I reckoned she would go down and eventually found her sitting in a corner by herself, just staring sideways "Hello" I said, she jumped and turned around "oh, it's just you, you scared me then!" She said as if she'd never stormed off. "Yeah" I chuckled almost nervously, "just me." She nodded before staring back at the cave wall. "You know I still haven't introduced myself" I said, she looked back at me, "Go on then, back to bacics, what's your name?" She asked,
"It's Dylan" I answered, she faked a smile before looking back at that damn wall, "What is so exciting about that wall?" I asked her, she looked at me, then the wall, then back at me, "There's a ghost in that wall, it can't get out, I can sense it" she said, alright then, the girl that took me to the cave was insane, there's a story to tell my kids one day, I did the obvious choice and went to walk away, she stopped me, "No, I'm not insane, stay and I'll explain" she said, ai had nothing better to do than listen, so I sat with her and allowed her to explain.

"So you can talk to ghosts?" I asked after hearing her brief explanation, "not exactly, but I can sense them, I've been haunted since I can remember" she answered. After her long speech about her life, I was feeling guilty for making a big deal out of my dad haunting me, she was haunted by thousands that had clung onto her during her travels and never left her side, how she could sleep at night I will never know. Out of all the ghosts haunting her, only one was friendly, that ghost was named Cathryn.
Cathryn would be a great help to us later on.

I got to meet Cathryn in the cave, she was very shy, she went to shake my hand before realising that was impossible. She was the ghost of a young girl in a long Victorian dress, two braids made out of her hair, she looked upset. I asked her "Are you ok?" And she lifted her head and nodded, I knew that was a lie but I wasn't going to question her anymore, I smiled at her and looked to Eden, unsure of what to say or do next, I'd never seen a ghost before. Eden figured that out and spoke to the girl for a while, she even got the way out of the cave out of her despite only ever getting nods and shakes of the girls head in response. Eventually, the sight of Cathryn's ghost faded away, and me and Eden left the cave.
