In which Steps are made up from acts auditioning for X Factor.

Lisa's green eyes scanned the crowded room where hopefuls sat going over lyrics and rejigging dance routines. H had persuaded her to join him in London for an audition on the second series of X Factor and whilst she still felt a little apprehensive she felt they had a unique selling point, a mixed sex duo. H's personality had already won the attention of one of the camera operatives and he was busy jabbering away to the camera right now. Lisa's eyes panned to a girl group who seemed like they could have potential though one girl seemed to be overbearing and didn't necessarily have the talent to act in such a manner. A tall blonde with stunning ringlets had been singing perfectly well but the overbearing group member had dismissed her role and told her to simply sing back up.

"Guess now it's time for me to give up hmm, I think it's time." Lee sang under his breath tapping his foot in time to the beat. He and 4 of his friend's from the Performing Arts College he attended had applied for the X Factor auditions. Personally he doubted any of them would get through to the next stages but any media exposure was greatly appreciated. "Hi I don't suppose you happen to know where we need to sign in?" A girl with a blonde bob asked as Lee smiled and pointed towards a small table in the corner. "You get your number over there."
"Thanks." She said as she was followed by someone he assumed was her younger sister as she looked like the spit of her only a little younger.

"Faye we're not doing that song. I said we're doing the Pussycat Dolls." The more bossy of the girls said as Faye sighed. "I just think the All Saint's Track is more suited to all of us. even the Spice Girls one." She said as Emma glowered at the blonde. "You worried Simon Cowell will like my voice more."
"No, more worried our dance moves will make us look like slags." Faye uttered as she took a gulp of water. "245 can go through to the audition room now." A runner announced as Faye watched as a small brunette and a blond male who seemed extremely giddy entered the audition room.

"I like you two but I'm not sure I see it selling. I think it's missing something." Louis said as Sharon nodded in agreement. "I agree with Lou-Lou. It's just missing that extra park, but I love your personalities. For me right now it's just not quite there."
"I'm sorry I don't see this working at all. You seem a little quiet on your vocal's Lisa and Ian overtakes you."
"But we can..."
"I'm sorry it's a no. Louis?"
"No from me."
"I say yes but..." Sharon failed to finish as Lisa bit her lower trembling lip and shook her head. "Pleas...."
"I'm sorry the decision has been made."

"You're a lovely singer pet but you seem really nervous. Like you want other people around you." Sharon said as Claire looked down slightly at the floor, fiddling with her hair. Louis leaned over and said something to Simon who pondered it for a moment. "Potentially." He said as Claire gulped. They were going to dismiss her, she'd messed up her big chance. "What would you say to been in a group?" Sharon ventured.

"...that's why whenever you come around he's all over you." Emma sang bolshily as Faye sighed doing the dance routine and wishing she had simply opted to audition on her own but by the time that Emma had seemingly taken over it had been too late to reapply. "Okay stop there please." Simon said gruffly holding his hand up and shaking his head.
"You like it?" Emma simpered fluttering her lashes at the media mogul.
"Unfortunately not. Though I did think there was a potential vocalist in there." Simon mused as Emma smirked. "But I really wanted to make it with my group. Though I understand if you feel I have potential." She said as Sharon bit her lip slightly.
"No offence darlin' you're not the one I'm thinking of. You." Simon said pointing to Faye. Faye looked astounded as she stepped forward slightly. "Yes sir?"
"Very promising. Can I hear you sing a few bars of a song you chose. I sense this one wasn't your option." Faye cleared her throat slightly and launched into Don't Speak by No Doubt.

"Don't tell me 'cause it hurts." She finished as she towards the panel. Sharon winked at her with a smile. "That was good, Really good. Though I feel like you'd be happier as a group member. What do you reckon?"
"I dunno, I mean this didn't work out well did it." Faye said with a shrug. Simon chuckled at her honesty. "No true, but then again I find girl groups have a tendency to be catty and have in-fights. I'm thinking a mixed group."
"Well I guess I could try it." Faye said as Simon asked her to wait a moment as the others left.

"I like you but I can't see you as a solo star." Louis said as he furrowed his brow.
"Well my friends are all auditioning we could try as a band."
"I don't feel the world needs another boyband right now." Simon said as Sharon nodded.
"What like a duo then?"
"Not quite. I've found a few auditionees who I can't quite see as soloists, one girl was ina girl group where she was pushed to the back despite been the only talent in it, a soloist who lacks a bit of confidence to pursue the limelight on her own and then a duo who are missing a few ingredients. What do you reckon?"
"Can at least meet them?" Lee asked as Sharon nodded.
"They're in the room next door. If you go through and have a chat, come up with a song and routine and then we want to see you at the end of the day." Simon said as Lee nodded. It was an opportunity, even if the furthest they got was to judges houses it would still be a good addition to his CV.
