A Ski Trip

(19) Brantley Noah James

When Brooklynn was 37 weeks along she was sleeping. Bucky was at PT on December 10th Brooklynn woke up cause she felt she had to pee. She started to feel contractions she was sitting up in the bed counting them.

She heard the boys coming in. "James!" She screamed

Bucky dropped his water bottle and went running to his room. "Baby..what is it? Look at me.." he said

"Hos...pital..n-n now.." she said through a contraction.

"Okay..come on baby.." he said as he helped her up. He grabbed the bags as Sam and Steve took her to the car.

Bucky rushed to the medical center. They were walking to the door when she stopped her and said "oh god..Buck.."

He said "Baby..did your water break?"

"Yes.." she said as she started to cry.

"Shh. Baby its okay.." he said as he dropped the bags.

He went running inside to get a wheel chair. Two nurses came out to help him get her inside. They rushed her up to the labor and delivery floor.

They got her hooked up to everything and in a gown. Dr Corporal Lindsey Todd came in. "Good morning Specialist Barnes and Ms Fitz. Is baby boy ready to come this morning?" She said

She checked Brooklynn's cervix. "Oh yeah..we are 100% effaced. We are 7 and half cm dilated. Water sac is fully broken and I can feel his head." She said as the nurse wrote it all down in her chart then they left.

Bucky started to make the phone calls as  Brooklynn squirmed and cried in pain. Once Bucky was done with the phone calls she said "Buck..please ask them why I wasn't offered the epidural.." she said through tears.

"Okay baby..Ill be right back..just keep doing your breathing." He said as he walked out.

He went down to the nurse's station. "Hi..um my fiancee is Brooklynn Fitz we was wondering why she wasn't offered a epidural?" He said

The nurse looked at her chart. "Dr Todd wrote here that she was already to close to being completely dilated so she couldnt have one. We can give her something in her IV but thats about it." The nurse said

"Thanks.." he said

He went back to their room he sat took off his boots and ACU jacket. He sat up behind her "You are just going to have to suck it up baby..you are to close to being completed dialated to get one." He said

She started to cry and squeeze his hand. "You can do this baby..Im right here.." he whispered.

Two hours later she said "Bucky.." as he was laying behind her still holding her hand but asleep. "Bucky!" She said as she started to crown.

He jumped awake. "What baby Im so sorry I didnt mean to fall asleep.." he said

"Page them tell them that something is happening...ah! Ow!!" She started to scream and cry. He hit the nurse's station and explained to them what was happening.

Dr Todd and a team of nurses came in. "Okay Brooklynn relax you are crowning." She said

They got everyone into position. Brooklynn began to push and push. "Okay ..Katelynn get me an OR he is stuck and Im not gonna push her.." Dr Todd said

Thirty minutes later Brooklynn and Bucky heard their son's first cry. Bucky cut his cord as he wiped tears. Dr Todd put Brooklynn back together they wheeled back upstairs.

Bucky stayed with Brantley till they told him where she was. He kissed her "you did amazing..he is so fucking cute we made a cute baby.." he said as the nurse wheeled Brantley in.

They showed her what to do to get him to latch. "God you look like your daddy.." she whispered

"9lbs 7oz 21 inches long." The nurse said

They both smiled at their son Brooklynn looked at Bucky "I love you James Buchanan.." she said

"I love you gorgeous.." he said as they shared a kiss.

Their families came in later that afternoon to meet the newest addition.
