Twenty-two

"Elyas?" He asked still feeling out of it.

"You kept saying the name in the dream."

Shawn thought back and it was familar. "I did, didn't I?"

She nodded and continued to run her fingers through his hair.

He smiled at her. "The nightmare isn't so terrible with you here when I wake up."

She smiled then held onto him a bit tighter. "I need to go back to be with Isa."

"I understand. I would like to invite the both of you over for dinner. Would you be able to come over?"

She bit her bottom lip and smiled. "Of course."

Later that evening, Shawn was preparing a cuban meal for Camila and Isa. He wanted everything to be perfect. He was the happiest he had been since she left for LA.

As he finished plating some of the food, the doorbell rang.

When he answered it, there they were looking like two angels. Shawn smiled warmly at them.

"Hey!" He greeted warmly.

Isa smiled then held out the barbie princess for him.

Shawn's eyes lit up. "Does this mean we are playing later?"

She nodded then reached for him.

"Wait sweetie. Let mommy take off your sweater." Camila said.

She reached for him again and he took her. "Wanna see what I cooked?"

Isa nodded with a big smile on her face.

Camila smiled as she watched them interact like they had known each other for years. That was how Shawn could make you feel. Her eyes traveled down to his ass in those tight jeans. She just wanted to bite it.

"Hey." He said softly near her ear. "You look so beautiful."

Camila wanted to grab him and kiss him, but she wasn't sure how to behave in front of Isa yet.

"I know." He said with a smile then took her hand and led her towards the table.

It was like he could read her mind.

After dinner, Isa sat on the counter and helped Shawn do the dishes.

Camila came over to help them but they were pretty much finished.

"Hey, I have an idea."

Isa's eyes widened with anticipation.

"How about we watch a movie together?"

Isa looked at Camila with hope.

Camila smiled and nodded.

"You get to choose."

Isa already had a movie in mind. Her favorite film, 'The Book of Life."

The three of them sat on the couch together. Shawn and Camila both rested their arms on the back of the couch so they could be touching.

Isa was in the middle of them but leaned into Shawn.

Shawn smiled down at her then glanced over at Camila.

Camila looked at him adoringly. She moved her lips slowly and mouthed the words, "She loves you."

He responded by caressing Camila's cheek with the back of his fingers.

She closed her eyes and leaned her cheek against his hand.

Just then Isa pointed at the screen.

"It's her favorite part." Camila explained. She then began to slowly massage the back of Shawn's head with her nails.

He turned to look at her with dreamy eyes. He mouthed an 'oh my god', which caused her to smile.

Camila's eyes began to flutter, but she couldn't manage to open them fully. She must not have realized how tired she was. She heard voices so she must not have slept through the movie. She definitely did not remember falling asleep.

"Are you an animal?" Shawn asked.

Isa shook her head no.

Shawn thought. "Do you play an instrument?"

Isa smiled and nodded.

Camila eyes were beginning to open and she smiled at the two of them.

"Is the instrument, a guitar?"

Isa nodded quickly.

"Are you Coco?"

"Yes!"

"Okay, my turn. I got one." Shawn said looking pretty proud of himself.

"Are you human?"

Shawn shook his head.

"Do you live in water?"

Camila's eyes shot open and she sat up, unable to move.

"Yes." Shawn replied.

"Are you a mermaid?"

Shawn frowned. "You win again."

Isa giggled then turned to Camila. "Mommy is up."

Camila grabbed her and pulled her close. Tears began to stream from her eyes.

Shawn rubbed her back in comfort. He was dying to wake her up when Isa started talking but he didn't want to do something that could possibly hinder her speech. He hoped Camila wasn't made at him for that.

"I love you baby."

"I love you too, Mamma."

Shawn slowly started to get up to give them some time. "Don't you dare go anywhere!"

He sat back down and continued to watch this beautiful moment.

"Mamma?"

"Yes, my angel?"

"I gotta go potty."

"It's two doors down the hall."

She jumped down and skipped along.

Camila straddled him and pulled him close by his shirt. "How did you?! Did you hear that?!"

He chuckled. "Yes! I hope you aren't mad at me for not waking...."

He was silenced by her kiss. He smiled into the kiss.
