« chapter viii: BRING IT ON »
Dabria and Adelaide had been living in Wayne Manor over two weeks now and Tim felt that they had adjusted pretty well to their lifestyle. Dabria was sometimes awake before Tim, sitting at the island in the kitchen and talking to Alfred about any manner of topics. Once when he came down for breakfast, they were discussing African tortoises. Another time when he emerged into the kitchen, Dabria was nearly choking with laughter, Alfred staring on looking half amused. "What's up?" Tim had asked. Dabria just waved him away with a laugh.
"Alfred is the best person in this house." Dabria said later. "He's so funny." Despite saying she didn't want to become a superhero, Dabria would often watch Tim, Damian and Bruce as they trained. Adelaide would be with her, wildly impressed by everything they did. Tim even asked Damian if he was purposefully showing off to her.
"What would give you that hairbrained idea Drake?" Damian demanded from atop the high bar, something that Grayson usually used, not Damian.
"She seems to really like you." Tim said, crossing his arms over his chest with a smirk. Damian dropped down, swung around once on the bar and landed lightly on his feet in front of Tim.
"I could say the same thing about Dabria." Damian said, walking away. Tim snorted. As far as Tim knew, Dabria didn't trust him, let alone like him.
Bruce could sometimes coax Dabria into flexing her powers but Dabria wasn't interested in learning how to use them for any sort of purpose other than control, or a joke. Tim had been putting his suit away in it's proper glass case just a couple days ago when he had suddenly fallen straight through the ground and landed with a thud on the first level of the batcave, right in front of Dabria and Bruce. Dabria laughed and Bruce had sighed, rubbing his temple. "That wad good right? I barely had to think." Dabria said with a grin.
"It was good, yes." Bruce said lightly as Tim brushed dirt off himself. Dabria smirked at him.
"Warn a guy next time." Tim said. Dabria shook her head.
"Not likely."
"Dabria, try to make a portal to the garden." Bruce said as Tim stood and began to walk back upstairs. Dabria held up her hand and a portal appeared rather quickly. Through it, Dabria, Bruce and Tim could see the neatly trimmed shrubs that Dabria could see from her window in Wayne Manor.
