The Other Side

Chapter 11: Copy Cat

     I took a shower and changed into the new clothes I bought yesterday. I wore a pair of light blue jeans, the cropped navy blue t-shirt. I wore black shoes and the black sweater I had tied around my waist.

     I walked back to the living room, where Cole was also dressed, was wearing a navy blue sweatshirt and light blue jeans that were baggy.

"Looks like we match," he said and smiled as I walked in.

     I looked Cole up and down, then looked at the clothes I wore.

"Copy cat" I joked and walked towards the door with Cole following behind.

     Cole and I exited the apartment, Cole locked the door, then we walked to the elevator. 

"Why don't we just ditch them?" I suggested to Cole as I pushed the lobby button on the elevator.

"We can't exactly do that," he said laughing.

"I wanted to go home though," I said frowning. 

"What's the harm with spending a little more time with me?" He asked.

"Well, I guess I can stay a little longer, just to be with you," I said, forcing a smile.

"That's not a genuine smile" Cole whispered.

     I smiled again, this time a bigger, more genuine smile.

"That's better" He began, "but what's wrong?" He asked.

"They all just seem really...clingy" I continue to complain.

"Oh come on, it won't be so bad," he said with a smile.

"What about Brynn - "I started to say.

"A girl grabs on to my arm and now you're afraid I'm suddenly in love with her?" He said and laughed while grabbing my hand and holding it with his warm hand. 

"I wouldn't say...in love" I responded, concerned.

"Maya, I wouldn't date Brynn in a million years, you're the one who I want to be with" Cole assured me, and lightly kissed me on the lips.

     I smiled at Cole and the elevator door opened.

"Adventure time awaits!" Cole said, grabbing my hand and pulling me out to the lobby.

"Finally," Brynn said as Cole and I walked up to the group.

"It wasn't that long" I whimpered. 

"Long enough" Brynn mumbled under her breath. 

"Hey cutie," Liam said as he walked over to me.

Cole put his arm in front of me, pushed me back gently, and stepped in front of me. "Get lost," Cole said to Liam and flashed a fake smile.

"Is she your property?" Liam argued.
 
"No. But she sure as hell isn't yours" Cole argued back.

     Leia walked over to my side.

"It's your personal romantic scene of two guys fighting over you" Leia whispered to me and smiled.

"Super romantic," I said sarcastically and smiled back.

"I have a feeling we can be great friends," Leia said.

"How so?" I asked.

"We're both sarcastic" Leia explained.

"Whoops, you noticed that?" I asked shocked,
and then giggled.

     I finally snapped back to reality as Cole and Liam were getting more violent with each other.

"I said back off, Liam" Cole shouted.

"Calm down, Cole," Liam said, backing away from Cole.

"I will not calm down" Cole responded, mocking Liam.

"Buddy don't worry about it," Liam said and went to pat Cole on the shoulder.

"Don't touch me" Cole said and shoved Liam hard.

     Liam shoved Cole back, but harder. I was done with their fighting so I walked in the middle of them both.

"Just stop already" I yelled in their faces.

     Cole and Liam stopped, as I walked towards the elevator.

"Are we taking the car?" I asked as I pushed the elevator button for the elevator to come down.

"Yes," Cole replied quietly.

     The elevator arrived at the lobby floor, I walked into the elevator and everyone followed me in.

"It's nice and cozy in here," Kai said as the elevator doors closed.

"Not the right time, Kai, not the time," Leia said as she patted Kai's shoulder.

     We all piled into Cole's car. Cole in the driver seat, me in the passenger, everyone else squished into the backseat.

"Where to now?" Liam asked.

"Nowhere with you," Cole said and gripped his hands tightly onto the steering wheel.

"Just take a break, you two," Kai said, to be helpful.

"I will not just take a break" Cole said angerly.

"Cole it's alright, you can calm down," I said grabbing Cole's hand off the steering wheel and interlocking our fingers.

     Cole's shoulders and hands relaxed. Cole took a deep breath and said; "you're right. I'm really sorry, Maya." 

"It's alright Cole," I said and smiled.

"So what's the plan?" Cole asked everyone.

"Bowling? Beach? Helicopter ride? Lion safari? Movie? Cliff jumping?" Cole asked and named ideas of what we could do.

"Uh...Cole...none of us have money" Brynn said.

"Don't worry, I'll find a way to pay" Cole said and winked at me.

"Right. Because you definitely have money" Brynn said sarcastically.

"Honey, I do," Cole said and laughed.

"Can we watch a movie? Maybe a futuristic one?" Leia asked.

"If that's what everyone wants" Cole replied. 

     Everyone nodded and agreed.

"After the movie, we can go to the beach for a campfire?" Cole added. 

"Can we check out the 'big square' place after the movie?" Kai asked.

"Do you mean The Center Square?" Cole asked Kai.

"Yes, there," Kai said.

"Sure we can, there's a fancy movie theatre near there," Cole said.

"Can we get pizza for lunch?" Brynn asked with a huge smile.

"Pizza it is" Cole smiled.

"And pizza for dinner?" Liam chimed in.

"We just said we would have that for lunch" Brynn snapped at Liam.

"Sorry," Liam said and slouched in his seat.
 
"What about burgers for dinner?" Cole asked.

"Great idea" Brynn responded.

"I know the perfect places for lunch and dinner, you'll all love it" Cole smiled.

"Sounds perfect" I agreed and smiled.
