The One Who Matters Most

Chapter 5

                                 Colby POV
  I stop my car and get out into the crisp cold air, pulling my jacket tighter around me as I pull the nozzle for the gas and press buttons, soon putting the gas into the tank. I look around and sigh, memorizing the scene around me.

  Soon, the pain will be over and I'll finally know what it feels like to dance with the angels. A small smile creeps it's way onto my face, thinking about finally able to fly. Soon the gas stops pumping and I put everything back before getting into my car and starting it, looking both ways before off, towards my final destination.

                       Sam POV
  "We're going through wrong fucking way you idiot!" I yelled at my purple haired friend Jake, who pursed his lips, not sure whether to rebut me or not. Apparently he decided to since he turned to look at me, his eyes full of anger.

  "If you weren't always yelling at everyone, we would actually get somewhere! We're worried about Colby too you know. We love him too!" Jake yelled back at me, my eyes widening at his words. I looked down ashamed at how I've been acting until someone put their hand on my shoulder.

  I looked up to Jake smiling at me, a small smile on his lips as he looked at me with shamed eyes.

  "Look I'm sorry for what I've said. This is hard on all of us, especially you. We can't be fighting amongst ourselves if we want to save Colby. Do you forgive me?" Jake asked looking guilty as I shook my head.

  "I should be saying sorry to you guys. I'm just worried that I'm going to lose my best friend to suicide and I don't know how to handle it." I said tears filling my eyes again as Jake smiled sadly and hugged me.

  I didn't realize our other friends were listening until suddenly a lot more weight got added on, until I felt like I was being crushed. I grunted under the weight, making everyone laugh as we all let go, smiling at each other.

  "Come on, we need to get back to the road so we can hopefully catch up to him. This last bout will be about timing and we can't even be a second late if we want to make it." Elton said as we all nodded and climbed into our cars, driving off into the sunset, hoping we make it in time.
