Alexander's P.O.V.

"Son we have to talk." I looked up from my work to see my dad walking in my office along with my mother. My father was Thomas Wilson and my mother was Lillian Wilson. My dad owns the company, but let me run it for a year to see if I could take over.
"Sure dad. What's going on?" I asked my father.
"As you know, we are trying to make a deal with the Italians. However we have a problem. They don't want to go through with it."
"What?! We've give them everything they've asked for! What more could they want?" I shouted. No no no!! This couldn't be happening. If I couldn't end this deal with success my father would never let me run the company.
"They want something else. They think you are too irresponsible. They don't trust you." My father stated.
"Why don't they trust me? I've given them everything they want and more."
"It's because you are a bachelor. Alex you don't realize how your reputation costs the company several deals with the Italians. Other places and companies don't really care, but this company does. They want this deal to go through only if you are married by the end of this month."
     "WHAT?!"
"Alex calm down. I know this may shock you, but you need to do it. This deal is very important. Being a business man, I'm sure you understand that."
"How am I suppose to be calm about this dad? You know I hate the idea of getting married. You know I don't believe in love. Why do you think I'm a bachelor?"
"Sweetheart this won't last forever you know. Plenty of people do this. You will be married to a person for a year and then divorce. That's all it is. Plus we will make sure you will have the perfect wife. However I do suggest you don't choose one of your flings." My mother comforted.
"Please. They're all too clingy and want money. I would choose the devil over them." I told my parents. My mother chuckled and sat on my desk, but made sure not to put all of her weight on it.
"Then who do you suggest? I might be able to find a family." My father wondered aloud.
"I'll think over it. This is already exhausting. Why in the world are the Italians so demanding?"
"It's not all Italians. It's just this company. They have more strict rules and specific guidances. All the deals they've made needed the person to be married. We are no exception." We though in silence before a knock sounded from my PA's door. I told her to come in. Caroline entered the room, pausing at the sight of my parents.
"Hello sir. I have finished all the papers you wanted me to fill out. Is there anything else you would like me to do?" She stated. My jaw dropped.
"I gave these papers to you 3 hours ago. How are you finished?" I saw my father's eyes widen slightly. He looked at the stack of papers and his eyes bulged out completely. "There is no way you've finished them. Besides 30 of those minutes was your lunch break." Caroline shrugged.
"I skipped lunch. I wanted to get these done. Plus it's not like anyone bothers me. No one comes to my office so I have peace and quiet unless you're shouting." My dad barked out a laugh. I glared at him. He shut up.
"I don't have anything else for you to do. You've finished everything. I thought this would take up your whole day."
"Are you sure sir? Because the papers behind look as if they need to be dealt with." I looked behind me and saw my papers for several different business deals for different countries.
"Damn Alexander. You hired the right woman." My dad remarked. I groaned and slid a hand down my face.
"It is fine. Those you can do tomorrow. You've stayed late this last week. You may go home. And before you leave take this." I handed her an envelope with her weekly check in it.
"What is this?" She asked cautiously.
"Your paycheck. And don't say anything about it. You've earned that money. Now shoo." I flicked my hand looking at my computer. I let my eyes glance at her expression, but I made sure she couldn't tell I was watching her. Caroline's lips tugged upwards, but she held back the smile.
"Very well sir. Thank you." Caroline exited the office and directly after the door closed, my dad let out a low whistle.
"I think we found your wife." My head whipped towards my dad.
"My employee? Caroline? Please dad, I think you left your brain at home. I can't hire one of my employees!"
"And why not? She's clearly a hard worker and she isn't like all of those bitches you hook up with. She seems like a very sensible choice. Plus she's beautiful and the media will like that."
"Dad I highly doubt she'll do it. The only reason she applied is because it payed well. She needs the money for her struggling family. She's really poor. I don't think she'd want to marry me."
"Then make it a contract deal. She gets paid an incredible amount of money and she can continue her job as your PA. And you can get someone to take care of her family. You get the deal with the Italians to go through and she gets money to help her family."
"While you make valid points, I don't think she'd go through with it." I did not want to marry Caroline. Sure she was super hot and all, but I didn't want to marry her.
"Ask her Alex. Maybe she'll say yes. You don't know yet."

And that's how I found myself in my office with Caroline Rodgers sitting across from me with a stunned look on her face. I had told her everything 5 minutes ago and she hasn't said a word.
"Caroline just answer: yes or no?" I told her finally. That seemed to get her out of her trance. She gulped. Hesitated.
     "Why me?" She whispered.
"My father thinks you'd be the best option. You are a hard worker and respect boundaries. Plus the media will be pleased with you."
"But I'm nothing. I come from a horrible background. Besides I know nothing about living the way you do. I've been poor my whole life!" She yelled exasperated.
"I'd pay you. Listen I don't want this either, but this marriage will get me through the deal with the Italians. And you would be paid a large sum."
"I'm not some gold digger." She responded darkly. I sat back shocked. Never had I heard this girl get angry. She seemed like this total reasonable person.
"I didn't say you were. You could use this money for your family. Get out of your current living situation. Someone will take care of your family while you love with me."
     "How long?"
"One year. You will be able to keep your job as my PA and you can visit your family." She nodded slowly.
"I'll do it." She whispered. "But there needs to be a contract. Also when is the wedding?"
"The ceremony is non existant. We're just going to sign papers and seal it with a kiss." Caroline nodded.
"Alright. If that's everything then may I go home?" I sighed and nodded my head. I watched her retreating frame. I saw then and thin she was. She must not eat a lot due to her poverty. I sighed and looked at all my papers. I didn't want this wedding. I never believed in love and never will. Marriages are pointless. They just lead to divorce and cause heartbreak. I groaned loudly wishing there was some way out of this. One way.

Ok I am not super proud of this chapter, but it is fine. I do hope you continue reading and vote! Thank you!!
