Chapter 7

Nicole’s POV

When I make it to my next class, just as I thought, Harry is sitting in the classroom and there is an empty seat next to him. I didn’t think that he had noticed that I was in here yet so I found an empty seat on the other side of the classroom, away from him.

The room was starting to fill up more as more people arrived, and I was hoping that nobody would sit next to me. Unless it was one of my friends I really didn’t want anyone sitting next to me, it was just uncomfortable. But soon enough as I was reading through the syllabus from my last class since I didn’t really read it before, I noticed someone pulling out the chair and sitting right next to me at the table.

“I thought I was the one saving you a seat, Nicole” I heard a way to familiar, monotone voice say.

I turned to the side and of course I saw Harry sitting next to me with that same boyish grin on his face.

“I wasn’t planning on sitting next to you at all,” I told him.

“And why’s that Nicole?” he asked.

I really didn’t have a reason; I just didn’t want him or anyone to sit right next to me. I already had to do a project with him; I didn’t want him to be pestering me here too, in my favorite subject.

“So when do you want to work on that project?” he asked me after a few moments passed.

“I don’t know,” I said as I watched the clock, my eyes following the hand counting the seconds.

It just needed to go around the clock one more time and class should start.

“Well we are going to have to find a time to work on it at some point,” he told me.

“Stop talking, class is just about to start,” I told him, my eyes still facing forward.

“So?”

“So we could get in trouble for talking during class,” I told him, wasn’t it obvious?

“We’re towards the back of the class so it’s usually okay to talk,” he said to me.

“Are you being serious?” I asked him, and he nodded like I was the clueless one even though it was obviously him.

“You don’t talk during class, it’s rude and disrespectful,” I told him and he rolled his eyes.

“So you’re basically one of those good girls who follows the rules and is terrified of anyone ever scolding her,” he said.

“No,” I crossed my arms.

“Yes,” he said and turned to face the front of the room now as the teacher told every to settle down since class was going to start.

Class seemed to be over as soon as it started. I had been so excited with listening to her explain to everyone what we would be learning this year that I hadn’t noticed that class was almost over until she assigned us the normal get to know you worksheet that most teachers had students do on the first day.

At least her assignment was just a piece of paper that was due tomorrow. I was glad that it wasn’t a stupid partner project like what my economics teacher had assigned us. I did not wanted another project where I could be paired up with Harry.

Once I heard the chime of the bell dismissing us, I got up from my seat and headed for the door.

“So what’s your next class, Nicole?” I heard Harry ask as he walked up to me.
